Apple Event: iPhone 14, Apple Watch 8, AirPod Pro 2

I used my older AirPod Pro’s on the airplane for the first time last month and I was really impressed with their noise cancellation! Pretty amazing!
Yeh they are good now, I can't imagine how much better they would be with 2X better cancelation. :D

The best part of the new AirPods is they have a spot you can hook a lanyard to. They should have had one of those since the beginning. Now only if they added a snap to the case cover, that would prevent a lot of lost airpods.

I actually like that new 2x zoom mode. I think it will work great for 4K video!

Apple put so much effort into getting this new satellite SOS capability for iPhone 14. Can you imagine how disappointed they were to hear that Starlink / T-Mobile announcement last month?! What do you mean it will work on all existing phones?!! :)

I was really disappointed in the watch and iPhone offerings. Hopefully, there will be some sales on AW7 and iPhone 13.

I especially don't like not having a physical sim card slot. So easy to flip flop between phones. As far as the cellular price difference between SE and AW8, maybe the AW8 offers 5G connectivity or more bands or something. Don't know.

AW8..............ovulation and crash detection. Talk about two things which are closely related. Just have sex every day until you're pregnant, at least that worked for my wife and me. Not much value there, but then the price didn't go up.

Here is what’s new in the iPhone Pro 14:

A new record for me. I fell asleep twice during the presentation there was so little of interest going on.

The stock price has gone up modestly which reinforces the idea that this was a non-event.

If you are part of the iPhone upgrade program, you can get the order started now via the app. Just have to complete Friday morning. I'll be getting a 14 Pro.

Idk there’s really not much apple can improve each year. Other than improving the speaker , battery etc.. better camera. It was different with the iPhone 4 was out . For the next 12 years we saw a lot of improvements .

It was mentioned in reference to both the Watch 8 and the iPhone. I suspect that is why they were so emphatic about the battery life.
At that part of the event the always on screen was not mentioned for the iPhones yet, it wasnt until they talked about the Pro's that it was mentioned.

I can set my iphone 11 pro max to always on display. What's the big deal?

Personally, nothing was compelling for me to upgrade. I bought the best iphone 11 when it came out and didn't see anything in the 14 to make me want to upgrade. I don't need a better camera since when I do any serious photography or video, I select a specialty camera for best results. Why do the reviewers brag that the 14 can now shoot as good as the GoPro Hero 10, almost. If I need an action camera I have a GoPro Hero 10. The SOS via satellite is not compelling for me. I don't have 5G but really haven't found a need for it. One feature I would like to see is the ability to rebroadcast wifi as a wifi repeater with firewall. For example- on a cruise ship we can buy ship's wifi for streaming internet. Then it would be nice to repeat that service to other devices in the room. Now, the cruise industry charges you for each device which can get expensive. Currently iphone hotspot only works with cellular internet.

Not excited about the Apple watch either. I will upgrade when Apple finally puts a camera in the AW and supports facetime with it. My AW6 A2294 does everything else I need and want.

For those who want a BP monitor for Apple watch, check out the various BT connected cuffs like Qardio.

I like the volume control on the Airpods, but not enough to spend to upgrade.

So for anyone who would like to upgrade, I encourage you to order quickly. I need my Apple stock to go up. :)

I got them yesterday. I was curious about the new wallpaper interface, especially the ability to place widgets on the lock screen. Disappointed. For one thing, the widgets are kind of limited and can't be placed where I wanted them or sized in any way that I can tell.

Secondly, all my previous wallpapers were removed, only could use the new ones which suck. I found a place which has all the previous wallpapers so you can save them and use them as photos for wallpaper. If you like your wallpaper now, you might just want to leave it alone. Wallpapers

They added a place for medications in the Health app. You add your meds there and it keeps a list which you can upload to other places or print. Also, you put in when you take them and you can turn on a notification to remind you to take them.

Haven't played with the watch yet, supposed to have a new compass.

There are reports coming in that some of the smaller phones (XR, Mini, etc) have lost their status bar battery meter with the new release.
