Apple IPAD Owner's Thread

I have had sprint for data for the past 2 years and it has worked great. I know in other areas they have problems, but they work well here.

meStevo- I have it and it is more of a media display connection than a larger screen of the "ipad desktop" Consequently it does very well for playing stuff like YopuTube videos full screen to your FP projector. Slide shows works nicely too. I heard PPT presentations works but don't have any loaded.

When they release the composite A/V cable. that is the one I want to get as that one will be better form connecting to a hotel TV which is what I really want. The VGA cable adapter works surprisingly well on my BenQ FP but I rarely use it for that. When I do connect it, I push the signal from the Apple adapter to a VGA to HDMI adapter to get to the projector.

BTW- the a/v connection to my TP2 works the same way in that it only scales the media presentations to full screen without the desktop. Unfortunately the videos I have on my phone are low res for scaleup. PQ is not so good but the ipad does a much better job.

Hey everyone I have a couple of questions about the IPad. I'm going to get my wife one for her birthday and was wondering everyone's thought on the 32 gig or 64 gig model. I know she will load up some songs in Itunes but most of it is on out laptop. So is the 64 gig worth it or needed ? Also in regards to printing, with the proper app I'm assuming it's no problem with a wi-fi printer. Thanks for your help.

Printing- There are some apps ( I tried about a half dozen and all were similar in process) to do this but I found the process extremely awkward as it ties the printing process to a connection to a networked computer. I don't even care to try and explain it but let me just say, this is one area the ipad needs some real development work.

Simply stated, if your wife wanted to print out a web page she sees on her ipad surfing, forget it. What I see that is not yet possible with the apps I have tried. If your wife has a pdf file on her PC or Mac and wishes to print that to a wifi printer using a control point from the ipad, that can be done.

What Apple or third party needs to do is create an app that adds printing option to all other displayed resident documents and pages. Sorry if I have a PC like mindset on this. I'm open to suggestions. A good example of the need for this is this scenario- I'm visiting a family member who has a wifi networked printer. I need to print out my boarding pass and go to the airline website, display that web page of the boarding pass, now what? no can do. I have to use his computer and login to my account putting my login info on his computer just to print my friggin boarding pass. I don't know why there isn't an app to do this.

You'll have to decide on the memory requirements. I know how I am and will probably use up the 64 Gb. Decided to just go for the max. However, if you like to sync your ipad to a PC often, 32 Gb will probably work out because you will be able to decide what goes to ipad portable all the time. Me, I haven't synced my ipad since I activated it.

Thanks Don, that exactly what I was wondering and thinking about on printing... boarding passes, etc on the go and recipes for cooking. I was hoping to get my Macbook back ;) Hopefully an app is not too far off on allowing this. As far as memory I will go with the 64 gigs. $100 is not much for double the space. I know you typically cannot have too much. Thanks again Don.

Modern printers other than better LASERs and all-in-ones are pretty brainless. I can see ftping a file to a smart network printer or some sort of daemon running on a conventional computer accepting print jobs from the iPad, but I can't see implementing a RIP on the iPad and certainly not a single one that worked with all types of printers.

Scott. Have heard a launch date on the Sling iPad app?
Using the iPhone app on the iPad is ok but looking forward to a little better pq.

Just heard that the Sling iPad app is coming this Summer with no exact date.

I was talking with a high up exec at DISH who has an iPad and he told me he couldnt wait for the iPad version as well.

I just have an original sling box. I wonder if I would see any improvement with a new ipad app.

I will wait for the new USB attached sling accessory before upgrading.

I think you will need a Solo or Pro HD to see improvements once the new iPad app is launched.

Apple sells one million iPads in 28 days
8:45a ET May 3, 2010 (MarketWatch)
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Apple Inc. said it sold its one millionth iPad on Friday, 28 days after its April 3 launch. Apple said Monday that iPad users have downloaded more than 12 million applications from the App Store and over 1.5 million ebooks from the new iBookstore. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the company reached the one million mark in less than half of the 74 days it took the iPhone. "Demand continues to exceed supply and we're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers," Jobs said.

diogen- from what I can see, this jailbreak beta allows the ipad 3G to do text messages on T-Mobile.
Is this supposed to be something to rave about? Am I missing something?

Frankly, I like my approach much better, cheaper and higher speed service and it is all legal-

Tether my ipad wifi model to my Verizon cell phone.

As much as I dislike AT&T cell service, I think T-Mobile is worse. Unless it's coverage in your area, I'd prefer AT&T.

This was the easiest Jailbreak ever. Took less then 3 second to do..

Now I have Backgrounder loaded and can now MultiTask. :) Thats all I plan on doing with the Jailbreak on the iPad as it does everything else I want it to now.

I got to be honest, when it was announced I thought it was just a big iPod Touch... but it does so much and find myself using it a lot more then I thought I ever would.

AT&T needs to get tethering enabled on the iPhone. It would be great if you could tether your iPad to the iPhone wirelessly. But, I guess they would miss the separate $30/month charge.

Screaming brand new capacitor.
