Are Dish servers offline?

I got warnings today and yesterday that if I don't have my receiver connected I will get charged $5.

I have a 722 in the living room and a 622 in my bedroom, both wired via Ethernet directly to my Apple router. The past day (or more?) both receivers' connection status is "Not Connected" but they both have valid IP addresses from the router.

I unplugged the Ethernet cable from my 722 and connected it to my laptop, and it had no problems getting to the Internet. I also unplugged the router for a few minutes to reset it just for fun, but nothing changes with respect to the Dish receivers.

Anyone else seeing this? I'm guessing something is down on the Dish side.

As always (you'd think I'd learn), I should have checked here first. After re-booting, re-configuring, re-booting my router, pinging, etc, I concluded: "Hmm, it's on the network, but it's not connecting to Dish's servers". DOH! So yeah, same here in 19044.

Dish Network keeps trying to push me to AT&T UVerse. AT&T UVerse keeps trying to pull me to them.

And yet I still haven't defected. Now Dish- fix your internet problems so I get on with my life and forget your operational silliness. Don't make me mention by 622 is acting up.

I just got the install and I can't connect the broadband. It says FAILED when I try a connection test. How can I tell if its getting an IP from my router?

Press Menu - 6 - 1 - 9 - 1

This will show you your IP address info. It should be a number out of the range assigned by your router (usually 192.168.x.x). If it is all zero's you are not getting an address. Click on Reset Connection to try to request a new IP address.

The problem Dish is experiencing does not seem to be affecting DHCP. The receiver just doesn't think it is connected. :(

I got the same problem here in Round Rock Texas on my 622 and 722. Receivers get an IP address from the router but is unable to connect to Dish servers. "connection Status: Not Connected"

I noticed the problem this morning.

I noticed this morning too. Same exact problem here. Called Dish Tech Support, they'll send a replacement receiver. I was on the phone for 30 minutes troubleshooting. How come they don't know? They probably send me a new 722 for no reason!:confused::confused:

 That's great! I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they don't realize they're having problems. I guess they don't read SatelliteGuys! :)

Thanks! I found it.

got the same problem here in Pensacola FLorida on my 722. Receivers get an IP address from the router but is unable to connect to Dish servers. "connection Status: Not Connected"

I noticed the problem this morning. I checked wiring router and everything and decided it was the 722, but now I think it is Dish's pronlem and I am not going to worry about it unless they charge me $5. Then their ass is in trouble. I will send them this thread.

WELL CRAP. This is an incredible coincidence. I thought it was all because I stuck a new ethernet cable on my PVR, swithced positions on the router and in general redid all my wires yesterday.

Thanks for showing me I'm not crazy. What are the odds the *ONE* day I completely redo my satellite setup is the same day DISH screws up something.

FYI, I am pointing to 129. I wonder if it matters which satellite you're pointing at? I guess it shouldn't since this is not handled via the satellite feed (duh).

Thanks guys & just disregard my comment on the other thread.

Same here in BAMA. Came up this morning. Could it be a glitch from them adding online DVR control? I know Dishonline says "soon" but my receiver is giving me the option to activate the feature. Or has that been on there all along?

What Tech Support?

LOL, :D I hear ya bro, I think the Tech Support people are so busy yacking on their cell phones, that's why it's always so hard to hear them because they have the mouthpiece of their headset pushed aside and they forget to reposition it when they answer your call.

Well it's working again here too. The replacement receiver shows shipped too. What am I gonna do with it now? I can't believe they weren't informed about that issue. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing. I wonder how many more called about that same problem, and had to terrorize their ISP's, replaced cables and routers for no reason, and wasted time troubleshooting the problem at home for hours, and there wasn't anything wrong with any equipment. And how many called and got a replacement receiver, and not any receiver was defective? What a waste of money! Well there's gonna be price hikes in spring again, that'll take care of it!!
