It's ok, but Startpage uses Google's engine for their results. This means you get the same extensive search results you would get with Google, but without the tracking, data mining, and targeted search results.

You cant really avoid them...especially if you have a smart phone or use youtube amongst others...roku....firetv uses android...anything verizon collects data..sells to google

Don't use Android (married to Google). Don't use Gmail (I know, it's so easy to use). Don't use Google search, use Startpage. Not foolproof, but it's better. Also, watch Social Dilemma. The guys they interview and their testimony are all straight from Silicon Valley.

Unix is for mainframes...the internet is not always correct...linux is a watered down version of unix for pc's...apple can say what they want so they can be different..but in reality unix/ linux is the same thing

The Linux kernel is a complete open source rewrite of the Unix kernel that can run on many different platforms including running on several super computers. Most Apple OS's have been certified as true UNIX based OS's. The closest we can say about Linux is that it's "Unix like". Once again we're getting way off topic though. Look it up for your self...
