Would you guys like to see the Autotune feature added to the D* DVRs?

Dish Network DVR's have Auotune, and an Auto reminder option.
So it can be done.:)

Yes, I want it.

It makes it much easier for programming what your kids can watch.
Just recording it doesn't switch the channel.

When you want to watch something live, but its a crazy morning , it good to be notified.

I think its a Simple feature thats been all all the D* receivers for Years, I flatout see no reason for it not to be there.

Im not sure what the feature does exactly. You say just recording it doesnt switch the channel, what exactly do you mean?
If I set something to record, it swaps to that channel at the right time.

I may totally not understand that the feature does.

Auto tune Switches the Tuner automaticly to veiw the program.

Just because you record something , the only indication your recording is the red light. It doesn't go to that show, and it doesn't even give you any notice or reminder of what its recording.

If I want to pick out 3 programs for my kids to watch, I can't do this on an HR or R receiver if they are on different channels.

With AutoTune feature I can set it to switch the channel automaticly. DVRs can't do this.

If you are recording on both tuners at the same time it does. I don't want it forcing me to the recording channel or giving me the option via pop up window. If I want to watch something that is recording, I'll do it through the list.

Auto Tune Doesn't do that, you guys really have no clue how auto tune works do you?

Here, an example

Say my 4 year old is upstairs playing with a friend. OK they like the tv on,
They like Spongebob, Ok thats only on for 30 minutes they can't read to well and channel surfing well isn't mastered yet
So up next is Icarly. Well since they are 4 they don't like that show.
But they like Dora, which is on Nick JR. A completly different channel.
So what good does recording that do?

So how will record change the channel for them? It wouldn't!!!!!
Autotune Would!

You can record all you want, But its not going to do them anygood if they have to go through the List that they can't even read to find it.
It also prevents them from seeing shows that they shouldn't be watching.

I wouldnt be interested in it either. Unless you could turn it off.
I guess it would be good to have for those that want it, it just wouldnt get used by me from what I can tell by the description.

I know the Dish DVR's have that option to autotune or record. Saw it today on my dad's 625 when I was redoing some of the timers to record "only new" versus all. Good lord changing them around is a PITA. D* ones are so much easier. :)

There's no reason to turn it "off". Its just one of those things you dont use if you dont want to...like caller ID

You don't need to turn it off, it's a menu option, use it when you need it.

I don't see why the big debate, make it an option in the menu.

I liked the recvrs I had that had it.

I use to use it in the bedroom.
Watch the news on ABC and have it change to Leno (NBC) when Leno starts.
No need to look for the remote.

I would say, go ahead and add it.

I said yes. I had a great system going when I had cable boxes with autotune.. I need the TV on to sleep, but certain channels that I watch while going to sleep go into obnoxious full-volume infomercials for dick pills and girls gone wild at some point before sunrise.. I would program a 'lineup' to autotune around the infomercials, and wind up on the morning news for when I wake up.

I would also like to see them bring back Scout.

What I find Funny about the D* guys Verses the E* guys.
Dish comes out with New receivers and adds features and the E* Guys love it.

Now D* guys,
Got a New Tivo coming out, Directv guys say " No we don't want that piece crap"
Auto tune???," No don't add features to our receivers, Unless it's another worthless TV APP"

Only the D* guys will Shund improvments and new products.
Now wonder D* has such a hard time Making a DVR!

Sorry But I welcome all new advancements.

I agree E* has many option to make look hard. Its really Not at all.

And E* receivers also will NEVER record the same show twice. A well know constant issue with the HR's .
Even the Die Hard DBS talk D* fanboys will admit this.
