BVN is now on Eutelsat and Galaxy 19.

BVN had many issues especially when your more north ie Canada. Therefor they added Galaxy 19. Galaxy 19 has my preference but I have the option to stay on Eutelsat as I have a large dish. Eutelsat is now transmitting in DVB-S2 and with the Mecury II from Fortec Star I cannot receive it.

So I can move to Galaxy or buy a new receiver and stay on Eutelsat. Because I have been reading that DVB-S2 gives better clarity on the screen I am in doubt and hoped to get some advise form the forum members.

Thanks in advance Fuifnummer

Eutelsat 113 West A
Transponder: 15K

Polarization: Horizontal
Symbol Rate: 3600
System: DVB-S2
FEC: 1/2

Galaxy 19

Transponder: 20
Position: 97° west
Frequency: 12060 MHz
Polarization: Horizontal
Symbol Rate: 22000
System: DVB-S

Magic Static Thanks and I agree and cheaper (no purchase of new receiver) I have two dishes a small and a large. I bet I can get great signal with the small dish on Galaxy and remove the large dish from the house.

Why would you use the small dish vs the bigger one? The big dish will not drop out due to weather problems (rain fade) as fast as the small one.

Ahh dus je bent zelf ok een BVN kijker. Ga jij ook over naar Galaxy?
I put up a 1.2m ku dish a few months ago. I can do both :) PSTR 002.JPG

I set the receiver to the Hopechannel as that is usually a strong signal.
Settings: Frequency 11842 Mhz, Polarity Horizontal, Symbol Rate 22000 MSps
This came in very quick indeed but did not draw in 12060 on the power scan only the Hopechannel came in?. And when I did it manually there was no signal on 12060. So why the Hopechannel TP came in but not the others is weird as there on the same satellite.
So I guess the next step is to set the BVN Frequency and see if I can get a signal. SO a liitle tweek and I had the signal of 12060 and after a power scan the picture is coming in fine>

I get Hope Channel at 11842/H/22000, and BVN at 12062/H/22000. You might try a few mHz up or down if you lnb has drifted a bit.

Are you using your 1m dish right now? I agree with Magic Static that bigger is better when it comes to rain fade.
