Carrier IQ Android OEM tracking software... logs your every move... and not happy about XDA

Second, nobody knows who does what in the triangle CIQ-HandsetMaker-NetworkOperator, i.e. freedom to point to the other guy.
And here is proof.
RIM provides instructions for removing CarrierIQ from BlackBerrys | The Verge

First, RIM claimed it has nothing to do with it. And nobody else should have anything to do with it.

Ups...

It all goes back to the beginning.
Trevor Eckhart showed that CIQ has a version for RIM's BlackBerry (and for WP7, too).
So, it's just a matter of time until they either confess or get caught lying...

Diogen.

As a side note, this finger pointing "Carriers are at fault!" explains the
discrepancy in how RIM was treated in Indonesia and India vs. in the US.

Why bother getting in a public fight with RIM regarding having a backdoor
to monitor BB usage, if CIQ will do it for you without any such fuss?

Damage control.

It looks like CIQ is getting set up to go down.
They outlived its usefulness. Time to move on.

Every smartphone owner can be happy now.
No privacy violations anymore...:p

Details trickling out...
Sprint reveals it has Carrier IQ on 26 million phones

To summarize:

On the network side
- Sprint has 26M phones bugged
- AT&T just short of 1M

On the manufacturer side
- Samsung installed CIQ on 25M handsets (on network request)
- HTC - on 6.3M
Moto and T-Mo have another few days.

Interesting what are the other 100M+ handsets that have/had it installed?
