Decent price and You can't order it yet since they don't have price but saw this on Directv website today ....NHL CENTER ICE.
NHL is BACK! It will be available for sale starting on Sat., January 19. .
Package details are being finalized so check back soon to order online. http://www.directv.com/sports/nhl :)

Considering the circumstances. Yes. It's not that I can't afford the $60 it's that I want to give as little (if any) of my money to these guys as possible. I usually am able to score a deal on Center Ice and I'm curious how people are making out this year.

Thanks darrencp22...I am going to try and get it cheaper like I do the NFL Sunday Ticket but will they budge is the question :) A couple of post from Twitter about it DIRECTV Service?@DIRECTVService
@JustinTHW This will be a total of $59.96 for the total season for games outside of your local market.
DIRECTV Service?@DIRECTVService @devildave632 Yes! Our NHL Center Ice package will be a 4 pay of $14.99 for the entire season..... I saw your response darren I will be interested to see their response :)

Update. They gave me a 100 gift card for keeping center ice. Also are upgrading my home to genie system for free

With a new two year contract.

Not sure but I do believe I'm with the above comment about the package still being too much. Perhaps with the online version included, yes, perhaps. I'm so torn about what to do this season..

I do keep hearing that indemand customers may infect be getting it for free. What's the word on that? Any new info? I have Fios as well and even with the fewer HD games I would really have no choice but to shut down the Direct TV for a few months...

I just called in to re-add the package(i cancelled it before the season) and they told me I can't even order it til Saturday, which is the day the season starts. Makes no sense. And since he couldn't add it he couldn't offer me any deals for it.

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/01...boomer-says-nhl-has-fences-to-mend-with-fans/

This article has quotes from Boomer Esiason's podcast. He had Gary Bettman on as a guest and gave him a hard time about the lockout. Here is a quote about CI and GameCenter.

“We have a lot of reconnecting to do,” he said. “We have some fences to mend and bridges to mend, and we’re going to work very hard to re-earn the trust of our fans — even the more casual, newer fans. And we’re going to work very hard to do that. One of the reasons Boomer’s so mad at me is he represents the great passion that hockey fans have, and we all missed our game terribly. Listen, we’re about to have an amazing shortened season.”
Bettman said there’s a “variety of things” in the works to welcome back the hockey faithful, “most of which are on a club-by-club basis.”
The league is also “in the process” of working out a discount for NHL Center Ice, the cable-satellite subscription package which broadcasts all games, and streaming service NHL GameCenter LIVE.
Esiason wanted to see those offered for free. Bettman called it “a good thought.”
But?
“We have partners in that business, so we don’t have the luxury of just giving it away,” he said. “What we’re trying to do is get it to a place where we think it’s certainly a very good offer, but it’s something that the business partners … can live with.”

As others have said, it won't be free but I wonder what the GameCenter pricing will be. As far as I know it hasn't been announced yet. I'm not usually a big enough hockey fan to follow teams outside the Red Wings and the occasional national game but if GameCenter comes in at $50 or below I would consider it.

Indemand is pricing their product at 50 while the D* version is 60? Premium product right? Pure horse hockey even with the added HD that Direct offers.

Sometimes I wish D* didn't think so highly of itself.
