I've gotten curious about the Genie changes, and with my HR34 back to being somewhat slow loading the PlayList, I'll probably put it on CE. I'll also update my HR24s to this week CE flavor.

The changes are mostly nice but minor. I hope they are in process of doing a ui overhaul with the changes to better utilize some info.

Yeah, the DirecTV GUI layout is poorly design on most screens.

The GUI left column, at least, should be the same width on all screens. The column width should be the PIG width that's above the left column on ALL screens.

With this done, the right column can be expanded upwards on many of the screens.

Or they can reverse it. Reduce the size of the PIG to the left column narrowest width. The result to the right column is the same. It is allowed to expand upward.

With PIG controls gone, it is nothing but a small screen taking up space. Its size no longer matters.

I'm lucky enough to have a 700 box. I really don't like the 500s. Just opinion though.. no real reason... my office has been getting 500s for almost a year.
I'd much rather have the -700 as well.
In reality, there isn't much difference in them.
I know Pace usually makes good equipment (700), then again the Pace that the local CC is using isn't so great, maybe it's a Standards thing.
I don't remember who the -500s are any more, use to know but brain lacking at the moment.

Yes technicolor either bought or absorbed thompson... no idea on humax's history.... now we just need to identify the old -300 and the -600... I don't recall ever seeing a 400 series..

That's cool.. I know NEC as a manufacturer. . But I don't recall any dtv boxes labeled as -800... and to my knowledge Hughes boxes didn't have an extension number... then again none of these have been in commission for years now.
