Ciel 2 Tracking

for 110 and 119 those signals are way too low. I get like 70-80's on those 2 satellites but for 129 your signal is pretty good for a wobbly satellite. my highest on 129 when its stable is bout 58 lowest is bout 38. when its wobbly that usually knocks bout 12 points of the SS scale. I would def re-peak your dish 500 if u installed it yourself. On second thought if most transponders are above 50 your in good shape just saw your new response.

I was that high before they installed the new meter software......dish said the new meter registers the same signal in half

It's always a good idea to post the transponder # you're reading the signal from. That way we can compare with others and see if you're getting good signal.

For example, you may be posting 64 for 110 but it could be a spotbeam transponder. Spotbeam readings are usually higher than 64 for 110.

You guys telling him his signals are too low (and telling me the same thing) must not live in the woods. Don't know exactly where Oregonscott is from, but there are plenty of places in Oregon similar to my area. I'm pretty much surrounded by 300+ foot pine trees. We take what we can get when it comes to signal strength. You can have a strong signal on 110 and nothing on 119, then move the mast a foot to the left or right and get the opposite.

best tweaking transponders are home transponders which are
119-19 mine is 68
110-21 mine is 73
129-17 mine is 57

i may be wrong on 129 but i think thats right. and yes trees definitely are not very satellite friendly.Do we know what the new home transponder will be on ciel 2 yet?
nice pic #18
my setup is a dish 500 with a wing 500 for 129 both on pole in ground.

Currently, I'm pointed at 110 and 119 with one dish, and 61.5 with another that was added when I went to the HD package. Will I pick up 129 when it goes live, or do they have to repoint? I live in Nebraska if that helps.

OK, everyone doesn't have to post their signal strength for 110/119/129. Just do this:

-Select a 129 transponder between 17 and 32 (excluding 20, 24, 25, 26 and 29)
-Note it's current signal strength (but you don't need to post it here)
-Periodically check the strength on the same transponder. If it significantly goes up, Ciel-2 is probably on.
-THEN post

Well, depending on where you're at (I'm guessing you're either in the Omaha or Lincoln "area"). That is, you get your locals from either Omaha on Dish or from Lincoln/Kearney/Hastings. If that is the case, then we are *supposed* to be an eastern arc market, meaning that your HD locals will be on 61.5 and you won't need 129. Now, it looks like they may be putting some additional locals up on 129 for us, but if Dish does what is expected, those will also be available on 61.5 and you won't need 129. Nothing is saying you can't put up another dish to pick up 129 if you want to, but it looks like at this time Dish won't require it (nor will you need it).
