I am a ham operator and my idea was to use a dish to communicate with other towers at uhf (440Mhz). is this possible, w/ LNB , w/ out LNB, is it possible at all? i really like the gain over "IR" the dish has over anything else. I've thought it out, it makes sence except for the fact i havent seen this anywhere. I just want to use a dish to communicate at 440 Mhz rather than 1Ghz+. replies wanted! thx

The LNBF will not work. They are not designed for 440. If you do find a way to use the dish it will have a very narrow directional pattern. There are hams that use old Primestar dishes for the gigahertz bands but I have never seen one at UHF.

Theres a guy and a school out in California that have been using the dbs dishes for long range wifi, the school used a dish to transmit a wifi signal over 9 - 12 miles out in the desert so you might want to google this.
