Diplexer Question

Hello Guys!

I currently have a motorized setup with a free port on my LNB. I want to run a line
up to a room over my garage to experiment with a DVB card in my computer.

Looking at the situation, running a new line there is going to be a bear, one of those
all day projects.

So.....can I run my satellite coax to my cable TV point, and install a diplexer to take
advantage of the cable run already installed to that room? The cable TV splitter is
outside and I can identify the direct feed to the room over the garage.

Will this work?

Cable TV splitter will not work at your reference setting.

The diplexer should work as long as the line does not have any splitters or other devices. Make sure that the coax is a good quality RG6.

Inserting the two diplexers will attenuate your signal approximately 3dB. You may find that this loss will not provide satisfactory reception on the PCI card.

Just a note to let you know it worked. I noticed no loss of signal or quality,
probably due to the greatly reduced length of cable needed?
