See, now theres the difference ...
You enjoy if when it was Free, which is fine, But, I would GUESS that your team is actually a local team that you don't need ST to see, while looking at other games on ST when you decide too .....

Other People, like Myself ... use ST to SEE OUR Team(s) ...
Without it, would not have been able to see my Steelers for the last 20+ years ...
Thats a Family thing actually, we all get together and enjoy, or complain, depending on how the day went !
And you have directv

I’m going to disagree with both of you.

Streaming, and it’s insatiable appetite for compelling content provides an opportunity for sports. There is a great deal of interest in sports like lacrosse and soccer, along with a whole host of intercollegiate sports out there. There are lots of people that care about them and would watch.

Formula 1 and Indy car are prime examples of historically relatively obscure sports (at least in the US) that are gaining interest and drawing viewers.

The current best source for this is ESPN+, but Apple and Amazon are making inroads. Paramount+ has UEFA competitions and NWSL.

And, is cheap for lots of hours… MLS is going to cost Apple $250 million for over 1,000 hours of content a year. That’s peanuts compared to producing a scripted series, even without special effects. Other sports are going to cost less, much less. These sports can be augmented with studio shows that make compelling stories about the athletes and the game… highlights and pregame shows. All relatively cheap.

Sports are the ultimate reality show.
I have to disagree with your take ... while all those sports you mentioned, yes are sports, and yes they have thier own following, they pale overall to those major ones here in the states.

There is a niche place for them, yes.

Ever fall on hard times? That’s when you realize what is a necessity, and what is a luxury. The latter cannot replace the former.

Of course I do, that is the point ...

20 years ago, if the teams were on the local cable, I probably would not have gone to D*.
Actually, I was watching the ST on C-Band first and then when C-Band started to change thier systems, I went to the small dish.

The answer to that is, with all respect, maybe 20 or 30 people nationwide.
Again, you are speaking for yourself, never speak for others.
If you want ST, you get DirecTV.
Not in a year.

And I want ST, I do not want DirecTV.

Live TV has no value anymore, if I was not able to pay for YTTV with Gift Cards that I get with my CC points, I would drop it also.

I would be paying well over $150 for DirecTV since I would need 11 boxes, to pay that much money for reruns and antiquated equipment is, in my opinion, idiotic.

If I dropped Live TV, I would only be paying, roughly, $50, I would still get the majority of what is on Live TV plus all the extra streaming shows, then MLB for $69 ( paid that 3 weeks ago), NFL would be $300.

So, for basically $80.75 a month ( all that above added together, divide by 12) I could get the majority of programming, almost every MLB game, NFL, NHL, March Madness.
The idea that there is this great mass of people, staring dumbly at their cell phone, wishing oh wishing that it had ST is just fantasy. If you want ST, you HAVE ST currently.
I will have it in a year, it would be pretty dumb right now to sign with DirecTV for ST when they lose it in a year, I would be stuck in a overprice 2 year contract.

There's literally people in this thread saying they'd get it, while you are inventing people to justify your argument, like a couple of others keep doing.

Id also fall under the group you just mentioned, but would prefer legitimate access on all of my devices and as an adult can afford that luxury.

Personally, If and when it becomes available via streaming, I will likely get it. I have interest in it, but not at the expense of going back to satellite. That ship has sailed for me.

The Giants have sucked, I would rather watch better out of market teams.

Unless things change, you will still need Live TV to watch the games on your local CBS and FOX stations, as they are blacked out on Sunday Ticket. And those are usually high profile games, involving the local teams and the one or two big national matchups that aren't in prime-time.

Why is it so hard to believe that there are others out there that want ST but do not want DirecTV.

Comcast has 20 million Video Customers, none of them want it, same for 8 million from Dish?

Right now, there are 68 million households that subscribe to Live TV, there are 55 million households that do not, can you honestly say none of them want it, even in this thread there are members that say they will get it but want nothing to do with DirecTV, Ronnie’s post was the latest.

THIS is Definitely True !!!!

However, the numbers are no where what many might think.
Just because Comcast has 20 Million Video Subs, doesn't mean 20 Million what ST.
I would guess over the outlets that may get it, they can add maybe 10-20%.

For example, If Comcast went out and got it, I would say maybe at most 20 % would get it.

What are the numbers for Extra Innings, everyone has access to it. Sure it's not ST but it's widely available.

If 10% of 123 million Households get ST, that is basically 12 million, times $300 is $3.6 Billion Dollars, then it is a success, glad you are seeing things my way .
