When Dish originally launched its "Everything" package, it included everything (except porn) that an American, English speaking sub could subscribe to on a monthly basis in their local area.. and at a savings. Since it has launched, Dish has added at least one new premium, "Blockbuster at home", increased rates, etc, but has yet to "freshen" up the everything package.. anyone hear any rumblings about a new or refreshed package? Thoughts?

Well, you are wrong. The everything package never included everything that an "English speaking sub" could subscribe to. It includes programming now exactly as it did then, the top package, plus the four premium movie packages. It did exempt you from a fee at one time.

Aside from making every channel HD and add every sports channel available, what else would be left to add? Just asking as an "everything subscriber" for quite a while. And as I asked in a different thread, what is available out there not including HD versions and RSN's, the majority replied with HD and sports(which I asked not to include). There doesn't seem to be too much left.

The everything pack is still a savings. Just price out the package with the regular prices of the movie channels and you'll see.

would be better if they still waived the dvr fee though

The main reason I had AEP for so long was that you could escape the DVR fees with it. Back then there was a dvr fee PER, Dvr receiver and I had three of them , and that saved me $18.00 a month (3 x $6.00 ) . Now they rolled some of the dvr fees into the additional receiver fees with the Vip series. That is why the Hopper/joey system is the best way to escape the extra dvr fees.

The dvr fee for the Hopper and 922 is $10, all others are $6, the difference is the additional receivers fees going from $5 each to $7 for a single tuner and either $10, $14 or $17 each for duo tuner receivers.

The $17.00 for the additional receiver fee for a second 722k on your account is broke down to $7.00 additional receiver fee + $5.00 tv 2 connectionl fee + $5.98 dvr service fee= $17.00.

That only comes to $16.98:D They are stiffing us by .02 per month!

From the day they introduced America's everything pack I despised the name.It does nothing but confuse customers when they see sport and bb@home channels in their guide in red.I don't know how many times I have heard (so America's everything pack isn't really everything)I know I have heard it a lot.Dish needs to rename it.

Wonder if the new year will bring new names and any changes with packages?

Actually, that adds up to $17.98. I'm pretty sure if you broke it down, it would be $7 for tv1 + $7 for tv2 + $3 for dvr equipment = $17. That's why the 612/512 is $10, $7 for tv1 + $3 for dvr equipment.

All the America's Everything pack got you in programming beyond the AT 250 was the 4 premium movie channels at a bundled discount. Then Dish included all a la carte channels such as Bloomberg, etc. And, of course, it meets the qualification for subscribing to other channels. I agree the word "Everything" ought to include at least the Sports Pack, BB Home all the English language channels except porn. The current AEP ought to have a different marketing name, but seeing as how Dish has exhausted just about every marketing moniker using AT numbers and precious metals, I admit to not having many ideas of what they can call it. "AT Ultimate with Premiums"? How does that sound. It's a bad mane, huh? I get an "F" in marketing.

While not snazzy simplistic would work..AT250+ Premiums. No confusion there.

When the Everything package came out, it included AT150 (the same package now called AT250) plus HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Starz. That's it. Superstations were never included and neither were the out of market RSNs nor Playboy or other "adult" channels. The package was 69.99/mo when it came out and was a savings of $5 / month over getting the included channels separately.

Since AEP came out nearly every single channel addition has been part of the package except for Voom. When Voom went away, the HD channels that were added along with HD Only channel like HDNet Movies and MGM HD were not included in AEP. They were included in the HD package (Platinum Pack) which was the same $10 price difference as Voom. Eventually the HD Package was rolled into the standard packages (Free HD for life promo) and the Platinum package added more unique channels including Epix. So really there has been an "additional" package available to AEP since Voom.

AEP used to include the DVR fee on the 510, 721 and newer receivers (after the DishPlayer 7100/7200 receiver which used to have a $10/mo fee) as an incentive to upgrade when you got a DVR, but that was lost about 2 years ago with the equipment fee restructure that was a not-so-hidden $10-$27/mo price increase on AEP subscribers. Many of us who have the $3/mo DVR discount on our bills are only two months from losing that 24 month promotion.

So in short, AEP continues to include everything in AT250 + HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Starz along with several other sports channels that aren't part of AT250 and all the HD channels that have SD counterparts in the package + HBO Zone HD (not in SD). There are a TON more channels in AEP now than there were when it came out.

Good summary, but your upper limit is way low. IIRC Scott had 6 dual dvrs on his account, which meant his bill went up $85.

The DVR fee is no longer $5.98, it been $6 for quite some time

The figures I used were from the February 2010 release of the new fee structure that came from this very website. I know that the prices of the dvr fees are $6.00. The point is that you do NOT escape all of the dvr fee or the tv 2 connection fee, if you have an additional 722k on your account ,with the new additional fee structure put in place in 2010. This was done in order to make DISH look like they were only charging one dvr fee per account, rather than Per DVR receiver , which was standard prior to February 2010 change. Which is why I recommend the hopper /joey system now over the older Vip 622/722/722k series of dvrs.

This.
