It's all new I think that's why the confusion. Existing subscribers before now were not allowed to get new subscriber promotions but now things like prior credits come into play. DISH doing this way is actually good for you, however much time you have credits for you will be paying $24.99 then you can add two more years in a guaranteed contract with autopay for $29.99
...assuming the offer is still available at that time, and there is no price increase before then.

Once you fill out the switch from T200 to Flex, and you hit continue, do they have a screen asking if you want the 2 year lock? Or do you need to call to get that?

If it's like getting the discounts on the Top packages you would need to talk to DIRT or call in to have them tag your account, then you will see an added box to accept the two year contract. I'm guessing since existing credits play a part plus other considerations you have to be qualified first.

In all these posts in this thread, has it been determined whether changing add-on packs within the Flex Pack incurs a $5 change fee within 30 days?

It's been stated that the $5 fee doesn't apply. In fact, I did it myself. While the Flex Pack was still not publicly available, it did indicate it was going to charge the fee, so I cancelled the change. A week or so later, I tried again and it didn't charge me (I dropped locals).

I do believe a DIRT member did say they were not charging a fee for changes. But way too many threads and posts to find it if it is there.

I added the national action pack once in the morning and removed later that day, same with regional action pack, but a different day, and did not incur a $5 fee. In fact, I don't think I was even charged a single cent for having the packs for the few hours that I had them.

Good to know. I'd switch from the Smart Pack now if I would be willing to let go of the Science channel. Still have some Mythbusters episodes to collect.

Interesting,
I just got off the phone with Dish to ask them to pre-mail me the new smart card. They said that my Hopper 3 and Joeys already had the correct smart card in it(them) and that they did not have to mail me a new one.

Have others with the Hopper 3 had the same experience or did I get bum advise from the rep and should I call back?
Now I'm confused.....

Log into your account online and check your programming. If you can see the Flex Pack in the list of options to change your programming, then you already have the G4 smart card.

Not necessarily. On one of my accounts with Welcome Pack, I have a Hopper with a G4 Smart Card, and Flex Pack does not show up as an option under My Programming online. My other account did show Flex Pack as an option even when I still had Welcome Pack, and I have since switched that account to Flex Pack.

The converse may not be true, but I'm pretty sure if the Flex Pack IS listed, then he has the necessary Smart Card.

Look carefully before you go with the Flex Pack. I didn't look carefully enough.

I have all of the TV channels that I want with the main package plus locals and Heartland, but I lost my channel 99 SiriusXm music channels. I didn't pay attention to that when I made my change.

The attached is what I see, no Flex language. So do I need the card?

You more than likely would not require a new Smart Card if you have a Hopper 3. The information provided to you on the phone does sound correct for a Hopper 3 account.

The Flex Pack programming, along with the Channel Packs, will not appear on your online account until you have subscribed to the package.

That's where you can weigh out your options. How much are you saving a month, is that savings worth not having SiriusXM?
Also are you aware you can get $15 off a Top package (120+ through 250)with the same two year commitment and autopay? Maybe that would work for you?

Yeah, kind of a bummer to lose SiriusXM and Dish CD music channels. The music channels included are not that great(MTV, BETJM, etc.) but to cut cost compromises had to be made....
