I have an opportunity to buy a used Dish Network DVR Model 510. I currently have a legitimate subscription with Bell and a BEV 3100 receiver.

Can I just exchange the receiver and access card to use the DVR?

Excellent reception in central FL.

Thanks,
Ken.

Short answer is no. The card for your 3100 will only work in the reciever it came with. ExpressVu will not sub Dish recivers and Dish will not sub ExpressVu recievers. If you want to use a pvr on expressvu you will have to get an expressvu pvr and then sub it with them.

Quick answer is no.

Long answer is it can be possible. But to make it work you need tools that can be used for less than legal purposes. So i will not go into detail on how to. But basically you need to find a way to get Bell ExpressVu firmware on your 510, and you need to transplant receiver specific information from your 3100 to the 510. Then you can use the card from the 3100 in the 510.

But it is more trouble than what it is worth.
