Hi everyone,

So I paused my service a few months ago, I only had Flex and the News pack and have an overpayment of $8.72 on account. I went to unpause the service today and was told with fees and having lost my half price loyalty equipment credit (that I own btw) that to reconnect it's going to cost me 75.33 right now. I was never told I'd lose my loyalty equipment credit when I paused service, I don't even understand what the other charges are. Anyway to make a long story short, I left it on pause and am seriously considering calling and just cancelling it altogether. I didn't think restoring a pause would somehow cost me so much. I've been a customer for 10 years, you'd think they'd want to keep you.

Thanks,

J

Pausing (or disconnecting) will always forfeit any discounts and reset all pricing to what it is currently, which means grandfathered pricing would be lost, which is why we do have a disclosure that details this, and is automatically put into the disclosures if it applies to the account.

I can't look over your account through this forum to see what it all entails, but if you contact our Support Team they'll be able to look it over!

Since you own your own equipment you should be using the Pay As You Go service..I switched to it and that way you can stop when you want and restart service with no fees..It's the same programming but your paying each month in advance for your service..Need to pause you simply don't pay for next bill and when your ready you get on MyDish pay the service package with card and service restarts immediately..

In all honesty, I shouldn't complain really, no ones fault really, just par the course. The way I get worked up at times and complain I wouldn't want me as a customer either..oddly enough I'm very patient with the phone company :)

You might want to explain this upfront when some is asking about pausing. I paused more than once and was never reminded. Not to mention, its' bad business as I considering going back to Spectrum as I'm already wired in both accounts.

That has always been the case and every time someone does it then suddenly realizes they lost their discounts, they are enraged by Dish Networks duplicity. Ignorance is no excuse. I've seen this happen and be reported here many times. Do your research before you act. I don't even consider changing anything unless I first determine the consequences.
Be aware t you are having CSR's do this for you and they only know what is in their script. which might include that warning, that was just not heard or understood.hat

Yeah, you're right, its our fault, we all know Dish always has the best intentions when its comes to its customers. Sorry to have suggested otherwise by being so ignorant. Thanks for your input.
