EchoStar Completes Nationwide Drive Test for Boost Wireless Network, Completing All 2023 FCC Commitments​

World-Leading Open RAN 5G Boost Wireless Network Meets Critical FCC Milestone​

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., March 14, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- EchoStar Corporation filed a letter with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certifying that its nationwide 5G network provides download speeds of 35 Mbps or greater to over 70 percent of the U.S. population. This certification follows the successful completion of a nationwide drive test, fulfilling the final element of EchoStar's 2023 deployment commitments to the FCC.

The drive test, conducted using an FCC-approved methodology and overseen by an independent monitor, is the third and final component of EchoStar's 2023 Nationwide 5G Deployment Commitment to the FCC. Today's certification follows other major milestones for the Boost Wireless Network, including the announcement that EchoStar is now providing Voice over New Radio (VoNR) service, or 5G voice, to over 200 million Americans nationwide. The VoNR deployment is the largest commercial deployment of this groundbreaking technology to date.

That's great! My grandson has had Boost Infinite for 3-4 months and loves it. It will be interesting to see this product evolve. I hope you get as many positive responses to this thread as those that were all but burying Charlie and Dish.

Seems to me this ought to open the door a bit wider for potential backers. After all the hand-wringing over the past year declaring Charlie would never hit the commitment marks for 2024 and yet here we are. Love him or not the one certainty is,,,, don't count Charlie out.

Echostar's dilemma is Charlie.
He has majority control of the company and has had it like - forever.
He likes being the shot caller and does not want to give up control.
But, whomever puts money in, will want more control.

Excepting for that issue, both the wireless, satellite, and tv business could probably get the money needed to refinance the debt.

Everything I hear from work is no one in Entertainment or Finance likes him.

I honestly do not know why, just the stuff I read, which can be one sided, but if everyone is writing negative articles, no positive, usually means there is some truth behind them.

But it does seem that since Charlie Ergen has his hat out, those with the money are enjoying their revenge.

But Nelson is correct, he needs to leave if they (Dish) are going to have a future, in a bankruptcy, he will lose control anyways, since he only a shareholder, bondholders (unsecured) and Creditors (secured) get first dibs in a bankruptcy, even a Chapter 11, shareholders gets what is left, but the debt is so high, no luck there.

The questions is how?

The other problem is, the 1st Quarter Report is already almost here ( usually late April/early May), if another bad report, would be 3rd in a row, will make things that much tougher, even if the finance people are willing to loan money, it will be at awful terms, because they will know Dish/Echostar will be desperate.

Also, 1st Quarter is the worse for losses amongst all the providers, has been for years.
