I have a Maxtor 250gb hard drive in an old CompUSA enclosure. Was working fine until just recently. Now all I get is the 850 error, Unsupported Device. I have tried it on both my 622's and get the same. I have tried all the reboot/power off/unplug suggestions in the other threads, to no avail.
I'm hoping it might be the enclosure and replacing it will get my archived movies back. Yes? No? OR, am I SOL and the drive has gone bad. Any way to test this?

Suggestions??

You could attach to a PC and run the standalone Maxtor/Seagate dianostic program to insure that the drive is working correctly.

Also, whenever I connect my external HDD's, I always get the "Unsupported Device" message, but if I wait for a good 30 seconds or so, the message changes to the "Supported Device" message, and it works perfectly. This ALWAYS happens whenever I connect any of them. Try connecting yours again, but wait for several MINUTES and see what happens, and try to access it, anyway.

Recordings to external hard drives?

722 and wireless ETH
