If I was that worried about OTA, I think I'd just build the cheapest PC that can handle 1080i MPEG2 (it's not that hard these days) and not worry about what Dish was doing. Then I'd have my recordings available for me to do whatever I want, rather than have them held prisoner by Dish.

An all in one solution us simpler to use.

Indeed; it's snappy and nearly flawless as Scott reported in another thread. You can even select BBMP and get it to do something just about instantly, unlike Team Summit where they tried it on a 922 and it didn't!

Will you be able to multiplex an OTA signal on the coax between the Hopper and the Joey so at least you can get OTA to the TV via the Ant input?

Maybe they'll be able to roll the relevant updates into the 922 at some point...

I'm thinking move my 722 from the LR to the BR, install the 813 w/OTA in the LR and send the trusty 622 back to Charlie.
A new, 3D TV will be added to the LR to take advantage of the 813's capabilities.
C'mon Charlie, I want an 813!

Maybe I missed it but I don't recall seeing anywhere that the Joeys had satellite tuners in them. Are they just network clients for the Hoppers or can they independently tune in a satellite channel? What I am concerned about is if there is one Hopper and 3 Joeys in a household, would it still be possible to record one or two programs on the Hopper, and have all 3 Joeys be able to tune in a live program at the same time? This situation would occur frequently in my home.

No satellite tuners in the Joey clients. If two tuners are being used to record something then that would leave only one tuner left to stream to the three Joey clients. Depending on what that third channel is you might benefit from adding an OTA tuner or enabling PrimeTime Anytime. If not, well the sure fire solution would be to add a second Hopper to the network.

So how much is all this stuff going to cost? I hope it is comparable to gettig a 722K or around there to buy. Not going to do a two year comittment so would be buying myself.

I believe it's been stated that installs should be Hoppers or ViPs. Not both. But how well would they enforce this? Something about different switches, so maybe a mixed setup will require two separate dishes, etc.

There will be its via USB. I confirmed this today.

Perhaps USB will be employed to include future/other functionality in addition to OTA. Caller ID perhaps? Has anyone mentioned EHD? Will the existing recordings on external HD's be accessible with Hopper?

A single Hopper install requires two RG6 coax lines from a DISH Antenna into a XIP Solo Node. From there a single RG6 line is connected to the Hopper input and another line is connected into a standard cable splitter for distribution to the Joey's using pre-existing RG6 or RG59 cable.
