Goodbye Brett Favre. ehhh maybe not

thats what I've said all along
training camp here in MN is in 2 phases

-1st 2-3 weeks are at Minnesota State Mankato University (Division II school) and open to public. No way he'd show up and stay in dorms
-After that they practice at their "normal" HQ in Eden Prairie, MN which is closed to public minus media)

The 16th is the 1st day at "normal" place

The key is the reports are saying his ankle "isn't responding as he had hoped." Doesn't rule out the ankle responding better in the future (my guess is around week 2-4).

This reminds me of people who said that Wilt Chamberlain could come out of retirement in his 40's & 50's & still dominate the NBA. Brett Favre is 40 years old & he does have to look at life after football. It's not enough that his ankle has to be stable for football,he needs to protect his health to prevent himself from being a cripple for life. Joe Namath has to wear a knee brace for the rest of his life(unless he got a knee replacement already). Football players die sooner because of the wear & tear on their bodies from playing. They said consistently on ESPN that QBs don't retire because their arm goes, but because of other important body parts, like legs to move to keep from being tackled. They also say that Minnesota's offensive line is suspect. It looks like the New Orleans Saints knocked both Kurt Warner & Brett Favre into retirement. At least Peyton Manning will be back for 2010 after facing the Saints.

The only "super-human" QB I ever saw play well into his 40s was George Blanda,& that was only because he was the Raider's place kicker & they had Kenny Stabler & Daryle Lamonica 1-2 on the depth chart in front of him(AND a monster offensive line that wouldn't let anybody touch their QB).

Like I mentioned in another thread, either week 3 of the Pre season or after the Bye week, which is real early for them for some reason.

They open with New Orleans, Miami and Detroit then have a BYE after week 3.
Particularly if they are 1-2 after the first 3.
He would have the Bye week to get situated then play the NY Jets, Dallas and the GREEN BAY PACKERS in GB.

Favre USED to be one of my favorite NFL players. Even if he does retire this time he has gone to the bottom of my list.

Farve said he never sent text messages and if his ankle is healthy, he'll play this year

take it for what its worth......

dan patrick had a caller from hattisburg who confirmed favre was throwing to hs kids. think he is looking for more money, more control or both.

Both Favre and his agent have said the decision delay is not about money. We'll see if he ends up playing. Will it be for the contract terms he's already signed to, or the recent offer??

Who's the bigger diva or egomaniac....Brett Frave or LeBron James?

Favre. He's currently under contract and is playng the retirement card, waiting until the last possible moment to tell the Vikes whether or not he's coming back. Instead of speaking directly on the issue, he's slipping cryptic text messages and laughing at reporter's questions.

LBJ has time left in his career to make (non-Ohio) fans forget. Favre doesn't.

I do think he will play unless his ankle is that much of a concern for him. I think it simply boils down to that determination.
