The best guitarist of all time is Randy Rhodes, died way to young.:(

Ahh, you saw Randy Rhoads in my list eh?

Randy was inducted into the Guitar Center Rock Walk (on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, CA), on March 18 2004. Guests included Delores Rhoads, Kelle Rhoads, Rudy Sarzo, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Zakk Wylde and Yngwie Malmsteen. In a 2006 Guitar World article, it was mentioned that Rhoads' last name was mistakenly spelled "Rhodes" on his plaque, and by the time it was discovered, there was not enough time to correct the mistake.

Talk about disrespect!

Since they haven't been mentioned yet I'll add.

Chuck Berry
Carlos Santana
Slash - Guns N' Roses
Alex Lifeson - Rush

OK you all stuck in rock guitarists world. I hate to break this to you but when it comes to guitar talent, there is no better than María Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza AKA "Charo" in the US. She has been acclaimed by experts as the top guitarist in the world along with a couple of other Spanish guitarists, like Paco de Lucia

If you really enjoy guitar, get out of your tiny box once in awhile and broaden your horizons...

I'm sorry Charo is a very a talented guitarist but every time I hear her name or look at her the only thing that runs through my mind is Cuchi cuchi - :D

Gotta go with Brian May.

I never would have added him to the list from his recordings, but having seen him live a few years ago, Steve Miller is amazing.

Ever seen John Mayer live??

He may be young but I got to see him trade licks with Buddy Guy note for note and never miss a beat....The kid can play..

John Mayer made me think of another great guitarist that noone has mentioned Tim Reynolds, that guy is amazing on an acoustical guitar. As is Dave Matthews with his percussion style mute any string/s I want at any given time style of playing.

Jimmy Herring from Aquarium Rescue Unit is an unbelievable guitarist.....

And not to brag but you get me on Guitar Hero and I play a pretty mean guitar myself....:)

One of the great rock guitarists (not the greatest) was Terry Kath of Chicago.

Most of the others (including Frampton) have been named -- with the possible exception of Boz Scaggs. He's an incredible guitarist in the blues/rock style.

Cheers,

What about Bo Diddely?

You mean like these three guitarest - Paco de Lucia - John McLaughlin - Al Di Meola. This is a great video of the three jamming together.

Michael Hedges, in my humble opinion, was the best I had ever seen. He could do things with the guitar that made you stop and go, "How did he do that?" Amazing.

And thanks to the computer internets, we can share in his talents...
