HOPPER 3 UPGRADES

I understand that the voltage comes from the rcvr. Bit are you saying there is no way the voltage can return to the hub from the lnbf and try to pass thru a power passing port?

There better not be any voltage 'returning'. If there is something's broken.

I know you guys think I've ruined my credibility here, but do me a favor, go test a jumper on port 2 on any lnbf that has more than one port, while a rcvr is connected to port 1 and you will see voltage

From my experience with electrical equipment, it doesn't matter if voltage is present or not. It can't just make a u-turn and damage the source, that's just not how voltage works. Not having a cable connected to a port creates an open. You terminate the port for the safety of equipment and personnel. A terminator is just the professional way to close off an active source, it doesn't create a loop back

In the interest of complete credibility I just did what you suggested. I try to never post something I'm not positive about so I just hooked up a 211K to a K2 EA dish with a new Hybrid LNB. The 211K is now playing and there is absolutely no, none, zero voltage on the other wire coming in from port #2. And that's a fact.

Terminators will not short out or make a closed circuit. A look at the inside of 1 can verify that.

Pull out the rubber and you will see the stinger does in fact touch the outside

I'll bet if you had a piece of cable with a barrel and terminator on 1 end and an ohm on the other. You wouldn't have continuity with 1 lead on the jacket and the other on the stinger.

I've tried that before chasing my tail before I realized that won't work.

You should always terminate all unused ports on hubs and nodes.
