I would appreciate it if a Dirt member could message me. It looks like my Hopper with sling hard drive has gone south.

It has been acting up for 2 months now with pausing and pixelation of live TV and recorded programs. Then it started to become totally nonresponsive and requiring a pulled plug reset. Just recently in the last few days I am getting hard drive failure messages, and even after pulling the plug and restarting the Hopper is slow, pauses and pixelated.

Yep back up what you can now. They are pretty simple to swap and they can just do a RA in the mail to you but make sure you request a NEW one not a refurbished otherwise its best to request a tech cause they will likely be carrying a new one.

I am wondering if this 311, and 1311/1314(I might have this one mixed up a little bit) are software created, as there have been multiple reports for the Hopper since the SW release. It could be a coincidence, and people are just posting more about it, but it just seems odd.

Trying to back up, but it won't stay running very long between messages today. Will see what I can get off of it.

No DiRT on, so I used chat. A new HWS will be sent. I can't even get anything else off it looks like it is a goner.

I doubt requesting NEW vs REFURBISHED will have any effect at all.
Can request all day long...not a single guarantee will be made. And if someone guarantees it will be new, they are full of fecal matter. They will send you the first box on the shelf for replacements, whether that be new or refurbed. At this point, it will likely be a refurb. 2 years ago and it would likely be new.

I should have paid more attention when the problem started, but I honestly thought it was a software issue, as it started right after an update. I would have been able to backup more stuff, bet we lost pretty much everything we had recorded.

Sure seems like a lot of hard drive issues lately from various people.

I just had one of my Hopper with sling replaced this week, due to a hard drive failure.

I heard at some point there had been a production run with some questionable Seagate drives. Contacting Dirt tomorrow. Mine is going bad, too. I got it in summer of 2013.

Wow, that's the first I heard anything that specific, but I can believe it. I got mine in August of 2013, first lost my recordings last June, thought it was a fluke, then it went bad for good in November.

My replacement is on the way. Thank you Dirt/Andrea for excellent service, as usual.

It is definitely a used unit.

Just got my replacement. I'm sure it is probably a refurb, but you wouldn't know by looking at it.
