Is that the $6/month plan that reduces the cost of a service call to $10?Yes, if you take out the service plan they will replace it (with someone elses's that they repaired).
Used to be, but they increased the price a while ago.Is that the $6/month plan that reduces the cost of a service call to $10?
Did the hard drive died in the receiver? My HWS died and I think they wanted 90 dollars for a replacement. I said no thank You and bought a brand new hopper 3 for 190 off of EBay. Well worth the extra cost.
If it's a purchased receiver, you sell it on eBay for partsSadly it was a hard drive failure.
Good idea. I have an old Hopper 1 that is like that. I already removed the bad hard drive. If anyone has a use for it, let me know.If it's a purchased receiver, you sell it on eBay for parts

Okay. If you are willing to pay for the shipping, send me a PM with the address where you want me to send it, and we can make arrangements.Yes I will take it
Yes. I have not done that with a Hopper, but I did have a purchased Hopper Duo fail due to software issues. The hard drive still worked fine, so I salvaged it and installed it in a ViP722k, since the hard drive that came in that receiver had started to fail. The first thing the ViP722k wanted to do when I booted it up was to format the hard drive, so I let it do its thing. The replacement hard drive worked just fine in the ViP722k after that.Does anyone know if you install a fresh hard drive if it will format on its own

I have never fooled with Directv's DVRs, so I can't really answer that. You do realize that this is the Dish Network Forum, right? What about an HR24 ?
