Might be waiting forever.... the Hopper OTA tuner is single only and no plans for dual. This may be because they need to limit the number of streams or bandwitch at the hard drive during multiple recordings. As is, a customer could have anywhere from 3 to the equivalent of 6 streams recording and 4 playing at the same time. At some point it becomes too much data to read and write simultaneously. This is why they didn't put 5 tuners in the box like Directv did, because with prime time anytime they would have exceeded the machines I/O capabilities. So, one tuner for OTA is likely to be it.

Can someone from DIRT also PM me. I want to understand the costs associated with upgrading to the Hopper in terms of hardware and monthly as well. Thanks!

I would like to be contacted by a DIRT member, specifically about upgrading from a 722k to a Hopper. Thanks!

Getting Hopper installed tomorrow with 2 Joe's, Anything I need to know...??

Replacing a 922 and 508.

Looking at thread, am I losing my OTA tuner with this new system? I like to record from indoor antenna.

You are losing it until the OTA tuner for the Hopper is released.

Is it possible to connect OTA module to the joey USB rather than the Hopper's usb? If so, i won't have to move my hopper.
Thanks

For those looking to upgrade I will detail my journey:

I'm a customer of a few years and out of contract. I'm looking to replace a pair of VIP211k units with a Hopper and Joey.

I started with chat and was offered $300 out of pocket plus $15 installation plus the usual monthly fees if I signed on for a 24 month contract.

I pointed out that their website (dish.com) is offering "FREE HOPPERS A $99 VALUE" to no avail.

Sticking with chat I spoke to Andrea with customer loyalty who offered me no better. Asking for a supervisor simply got me pointed to their general phone support.

So I called and went through it all again, got put on hold and eventually disconnected (unusual for my connection).

So I called back and went through it again and got put on hold again. Eventually I got disconnected. Way to go Dish....

So I called back again and went through it again and got put on hold again.

Finally I got to a supervisor who peddled the same line. I insisted he visit dish.com which got me put on hold for a while longer.

To my surprise the supervisor came back and declared that my interpretation of the website was reasonable and he could do a full upgrade for $0 + $15 installation fee with a 24-month commitment.

Dish's local rep will be coming by Friday to do the install. I encourage anyone looking to upgrade to call and keep calling until you get someone willing to honor their website's offer.

Well, I hate to admit it, but u were right.. After speaking to a supervisor at customer loyalty.. I won't be eligible for the quoted price until may 4th.. Apparently that's when my tier level will go up and then I can get one hopper and two joeys for 100 with waived installer fee.. Hurry up May!!
okay so its now JUNE 5th, and I just chatted with a csr about my previously quoted price from the supervisor at customer loyalty back in march.. Well guess what.. I just got told that the SUPERVISOR was wrong and I have to pay 200 plus 100 per joey, which is what they originally told me the first time i tried to upgrade. this is frustrating. ill be calling tomorrow.
