I just got DirecTV

Ive got the HR34 on the living room with a mini client in bedroom. I am getting tired of having to reset the HR34 everytime the mini client locks up on the grey screen. How do I hook both tvs to the hr34? (yes I know both tvs will display the same picture)

I think the C31 has to be connected through the HR34.

I would go to directv web site and under equipment make sure your client shows with the Serial number and mac it may have not been activated right, also check the software and see what version the client has.

If you don't want to watch different things in the two rooms you can run a long HDMI or long component cable to the bedroom. I run a HDMI since it is one wire, have used as much as 100' with no problem, then hookup the local tv (by the receiver) to the tv via component.

Upgrade your remotes to RF (R at the end of the remote model number) and you can share the box in two rooms easily.

Excellent source for reasonable prices on long HDMI cables: www.monoprice.com

Can anyone confirm if I can use the ir remote with the receiver in the living room and a rf in the bedroom at the same time or do both remotes need to be rf to work at the same time on the same receiver?

Make than any R after the model number. For example RC65RX is an RF remote, RC65X is not.

Once you set RF mode both remotes would need to be using RF.
