Is 61.5 necessary

My dish 1000 gives me 110, 119 & 129. I have a dish 500 for 61.5. I used to get locals out of N.Y. from 61.5. Since I no longer receive those channels do I need 61.5. I ask this because a tech. was over yesterday to look into my weak 129 signal strength. He suggested I move 129 over to the dish 500 and use the 1000 for 110 & 119. So we did this and my signal strength increased on 129. I did notice I no longer have the Dish H.D. demo channel with the aquarium (not that I care) but I haven't noticed any other channels missing. Any thoughts?

Thanks

61.5, if you have a good LOS, will likely have the better signal.

Very true. 61.5 does typically have a higher signal strength than 129. Unless like me you have a dish 1000+ :D My 129 is usually close to 100% on most transponders. The only thing you personally will be missing by not having 61.5 is the DISH HD Demo channel (fishes). All of the HD programming on the 129 is simulcast on 61.5.

Moving the dish from 61.5 to 129 will give you better signal strength on 129 and allow you to re-aim your 110/119 dish for better signal there also.
