Anyone know if Dish will renew this? I believe I signed up for this last January. I'm wondering if I call 'em and tell them to start sending me a paper bill or renew the offer if they'll give it to me for another year. If they won't I think I'm gonna cancel Max and HBO. I've got Netflix now for Blu-rays, very nice. Thanks for any responses!

When I signed up they told me it would be automatically renewed for a 2nd year. After that I'm sure it would be full price.

My one year penny Cinemax deal expires January 16, 2009. I called a CSR and was told the cinemax penny deal was not renewable, after a rather long delay, as she had to confer with a higher up, I guess. I had 3 questions, all 3 were delayed an answer as she did not have an immediate retort. Maybe she couldn't understand English, I certainly had a hard time understanding her. Good for you who were told you could renew again, but watch your billing.;)

My guess is as long as you keep autopay & paperless billing that the Cinemax deal will stick around. It saves them a lot of bookkeeping, plus the advantage of OOSOOM (out of sight, out of mind) customer retention. With autopay I seldom even think about the bill, least of all scrutinize it. It's also a way of keeping subscribers in multiple premiums. When Cinemax is no longer 1¢ people may look upon their other premiums as having diminished value to them and drop them.

The first time it's no longer offered I'd try switching back to std. paper billing & mailing a check. My bet is they'd roll over and let you have it again.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'll call 'em tomorrow afternoon in hopes of getting a state-side response. If they won't renew it I'll tell them I want a paper bill & Ill cancel both premiums.;)

I'm pretty sure mine got renewed the other day. This is what showed on my bill:

I think it's a renewal because I subscribed to it on January 29, 2008. And my latest bill goes from January 13, 2009 to February 12, 2009. Which means if that penny is a bill for this past year I would have gotten charged full price for Cinemax from January 29, 2009 to February 12, 2009 which I didn't.

But I probably should call a CSR to make sure.

I've had Cinemax for a year for one cent. Even at that price, I still can't say I have gotten my money's worth. A lot of Grade B and C movies, and bad soft core porn at night.

I called in Dish Network because I had made some changes to my programming to ward off an extremely high bill and the remaining balance seemed to have not been charged when I was told it would be through the credit card autopay. The jerk who answered the call said someone had accidentally undone my credit card autopay when I did my programming changes. I then thought and asked about my Cinemax, I was still receiving it and had not been charged anymore for it. This Dish rep fed me some line about how as soon as the system noticed autopay had been removed Cinemax for a penny would be gone, and I would not be able to get it back. I seriously thought about doing nothing and seeing what would happen. The Dish rep said that if he redid my autopay the channels would stay and not drop off. Upon further questioning I was harshly informed Cinemax for a penny was not renewable after the year was up. It sounded pretty dismal to me. I was beginning to hate the way I was being handled. Due to the urging of this gentleman, I pulled out my credit card and read him the numbers. He said the amount due would be charged immediately and my Cinemax would be safe because he was re enrolling me. This really sucked I did not know I had a problem and I did not know I could not keep this offer after one year. I was only calling because I was concerned about my bill. As far as I knew and had been told the Cinemax offer was renewable. Later when I checked the charges I was found out I had been charged for the amount twice. I immediately called to see what was going on. When the activities on my account were reviewed it appears the representative I had spoken to was full of it and nothing had happened to my autopay before I had spoken to him. This Dish representative I spoke with appears to have just concocted some kind of hoax about my autopay just so he would receive a payment during his call. I am not sure why he did what he did, but it appears to have been som attempt to get money. I had never missed paying in nine years. I hope he got promoted out of there so this does not happen to someone else. I still do not know if the Cinemax offer is renewable, but I hope it is. That is my one cents worth.

I did a chat last night and Dish told me it cannot be renewed and will be taken off of my bill when the 12 months is up. As of now it is still on my bill but I will keep a close eye on it to see if it goes full price or will be JUST taken off of my account.

BTW. They did say it was a 12 month deal. So if you signed up in March you would still have a few months left.

When I took it, the 'account specialist' told me it would run for me as long as I kept the auto-pay option, and renew itself automatically.

If I remember correctly, people were saying that they were calling dish and being told the .01/year deal was gone while others were saying they were getting it on the first attempt... then a month later they had the offer up on their website.
