Issues Surrounding CUI Update

Yes, that is another feature that Dish removed from the new CUI. With the old interface, I could rewind the program that I was watching, pause, then select Record, and the show would record from the point that I paused. ...another lost feature that I used a lot. Dish does what it wants and does not pay attention to what the customers want.
I'm on an H2 with CUI and I have rewound to the beginning of a program several times and started the recording there capturing all the program that was in the buffer, just rewind and press the record button on the remote.

I had a program that was supposed to record for an hour, only record for 9 minutes. If you look at the picture, the timer started at 7 and went til 8,but recording started at 753 and ended at 803.( I have my timers set to go 3 mins over.) Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, we had an odd one a couple of days ago. A scheduled one hour recording started on time, but 42 minutes in a second recorded started of the same program. At 45 minutes in the first recording stopped, while the second recording ran to the end of the program. By watching the two recordings, we didn't miss any of the program, but it sure was an odd occurrence...

Is the only way to upgrade from HWS to H3 to sign a new contract? I'm currently month to month.
The lag is bad.... bad. Anyone try hitting live TV when watching DVR on HWS... it takes a solid 3 seconds. I hit guide... 2 seconds. It was near immediate before.
If new contract required for H3... this might finally push me over to PS Vue and the IPTV world.
I had many of the issues mentioned in this thread with my HWS (by the way, CSR on the phone was more interested in reading her script than listening to my issues). So she let me upgrade to H3 without a 2-year contract, but they charged me $100 for no contract. I'm ok with that.

So a one time $100 & stay month to month? Your monthly DVR fee stay the same?

That's interesting.

She may have told you no contract but I'd confirm that's really the case after all.

You'd know if you sign a new contract because they transfer your phone call to a pre-recorded message telling you that you're accepting a new 24 month commitment... and then you get an email with a PDF of the contract. At least that's how it was for me..

Going from a pre-Hopper 3 to a Hopper 3, Dish provided, means that Dish will do the install. At the end of the install, the technician has you sign 2-3 different "agreements". You only get the recorded message when they ship the equipment to you, if I'm not mistaken.

Around here the techs fake a signature for you. So technically I’m not in contract because I never actually signed anything. :biggrin

I never had any equipment shipped to me with my install in July

Similar story for me, last year my VIP722 started rebooting whenever I turned on the TV (HDMI issues), Dish replaced with an H3. The CSR originally said new contract and $100 upgrade fee. I was unwilling to do the new contract but the $100 fee was OK with me. After some hemming and hawing I did not get a new contract. Confirmed on multiple ocassions since then.

That's what she said. I did not receive an email contract confirmation, since there is still no contract. She read me the final "disclaimer" at the end of the call: no contract, HBO/Sho half price for one year, $100 fee, no transfer of current recordings to new box. So I took it. Install was yesterday. The only thing I signed was confirmation of install with the tech.

I think you're good. Nothing to worry about

Was HBO/Show a requirement or you were already getting that so they cut it down? I have no personal interest in those.

Also, anyone know why you wouldn't be able to transfer recordings if you have a HDD ready?

That would be a bummer for me. I have a ton of kiddo movie & shows recorded for the fam. I would get over my personal movies recorded. My movies I re-watch, I own.

For a clean $100, no contract, no requirement for premium channles... I'd be interested. Transferring shows would be a big bonus.
