Thats fine all my HDMI slots are used anyway. Don't they make a converter though?

I don't think so. Component can only handle 1080i, HDMI does 1080p. There are some exceptions, as some TV's component inputs do 1080p, but most are 1080i.

You can get a VGA cable as an alternative and get 1080p out of it if you've got that open

also the HDDVD doesnt upconvert unless using the HDMI, atleast mine doesnt. i need to buy a newer 360 for that "feature"

The HDDVD doesn't need to when the 360 does.
