I finally determined that my problem is with a bad switch in my non SWM 5 LNB.
I have a replacement but am not sure if power to my HR24 should be disconnected before changing the LNB.
I sure don`t want to damage my new LNB.

You can do it either way. A good practice is to turn off before working on the system but nothing bad will happen if you just swap wire for wire. Do mark the part as defective if you are going to keep it around as a spare.

Thanks Jim - I`ll play it safe and disconnect the power.
Will it be necessary to realign the dish after changing the LNB???

As long ad your dish is still in alignment no. If you have the dish aligned properly it should be a matter of swap and be done

Thanks HUTCH -
My dish alignment seems to be fine. I was hoping I wouldn`t have to mess with any fine tuning after installing the replacement LNB.
