Losing HD Absolute. Any suggestions?

Don't forget that a downgrade fee exists, if they convert you to AT200 and you know you want something lower, now would be a better time to change than later.

Well, its only $5 if done before 30 days, and you get the prorated savings anyway. My only concern now is that you would not get a discount if you switch lower, but it appears that you'll only get a $5 savings on the new price if you go to AT120 or DA. I'm holding off to see what happens tomorrow, and if not satisfied, or not discounted, I'll go through retention to see what they'll do... I'm not on contract. If I'm still on Absolute, great!

Just talked with an account specialist at Dish, I change my program package from Absolute to America’s Top 120. I was offered the same special price new customers are getting along with HBO and Showtime free for 3 months, free Platinum HD for a year, free HD for life, and 6 free PPV certificates. In addition, the anniversary gift most of us are getting - Stars! free for a year.

My programming price is locked in at $24.99 per month for 1 year :D before the price increase scheduled on 2-1-2011.

It is better to make the change before tomorrow to avoid the package price increases or any programming change fee.

Is it legal? Aren't they contractually obligated to provide absolutehd until the end of what you prepaid. My statement shows that I have paid for absolutehd until Feb.18?

Monthly Charges
Jan 19 - Feb 18 HBO & SHO 24.00
DVR Service 6.00
DishHD Absolute w/Locals 29.99
$ 59.99

No, contract says they can change programming at any time w/o notice.

True, but if I decide to cancel on Feb. 19 I am not obligated to pay for anything above what I already paid for. They can change me to the Everything Pak if they want but I am not obligated to pay anything extra if I cancel on the 19th. If they take my absolutehd away, I am canceling on the the last day that I have prepaid. I still have till the 9th to sign up for directv offers.

Sorry, but the price freeze is for tomorrow's rates not today's, you will be paying $29.99 per month for AT120.

The no price raise for 2 years guarantee is effective tomorrow, not today and it really only covers what might be one price increase, that of February 1 2012, so in reality it is only a one year price freeze.

I went through with my programming change. RIP, Dish HD Absolute.

I settled for the AT120 with HBO. Nearly all the channels I watch are in that core group anyway so I figure I won't be missing too much. The rep I spoke with gave me $15 off the AT120 package for 6 months, then $10 off for another 6 months, plus Starz free for 1 year and the HD Platinum channels for 1 year.

I chatted since my cell was low in battery and I knew it could be a long call. At 6PM I was offered a $10 discount on the AT200 then at 11PM I was offered only $5 discount x 12 b/c a experienced rep said I had too many credits over the last year. There were issues last year why I got credits but the issue was of what DISH did, so, it wasn't my fault that they had to give me discounts. Either way- another CS on chat went like this:

Buzz: Hi, I need to change my Absolute programming to the AT200 at a $10 discount for 12 months plus all the other benifits you are offering Absolute customers like Free HD for life, HD Platinum for 12 months, free starz/encore for 12 months and PPV certs.
Ethan (ID:ZE3): I'd be happy to assist you .
Buzz: Can you make the programming changes on the account via chat?
Ethan (ID:ZE3): Let me check the details for you .
Ethan (ID:ZE3): Let me inform you that you have Top 120 package on the account .
Buzz: No, I have the DISH Absolute and have not authorized anyone to change that.
Ethan (ID:ZE3): The HD free for life , HD Platinum free for 12 months , free Starz/Encore for 12 months and PPV coupon are offered from 02/01.
Buzz: Sure. That's makes sense.
Ethan (ID:ZE3): Okay .
Ethan (ID:ZE3): I request you to contact us on 02/01 to get all these benefits .
Buzz: Sounds good Ethan - you da man.
Ethan (ID:ZE3): Thank you.
Ethan (ID:ZE3): Is there anything else that I can assist you with?
Buzz: I want to make sure though if I make this change tomorrow I will not have an extended contract - that's the deal as it stands now.
Ethan (ID:ZE3): Sure.
Ethan (ID:ZE3): Please be assured of that .
Ethan (ID:ZE3): It was a pleasure assisting you! Do you have any more questions for me?
Buzz: No, Have a great night.

So, Ethan (ID:ZE3) says The HD free for life , HD Platinum free for 12 months , free Starz/Encore for 12 months and PPV coupon are offered from 02/01.

Is this what we get if we didn't change before 2/1?

Looks like I may not be losing Absolutehd. My proposed changes show Absolutehd with an extra charge now for the locals. I guess it pays to wait. I also noticed I have FX HD now but nothing else new.

DISHHD ABSOLUTE$29.99
HBO & Sho$24.00
DVR Service$6.00
Locals$6.00

Monthly Charges$65.99

I've got the same thing showing in my account. Guess I'll drop the service plan to make up for the extra $6.

CBS College Sports and ID are missing in HD, along with some of my locals that they had recently added (a few PBS and a CW station).

My account is showing the same thing......Hell, I'll pay $6.00 more per month for locals if I can keep Absolute. I still have CBS college sports and EPIX 2..... although I have gained FXHD :)

Here's what I'm showing as well:

DISHHD ABSOLUTE$29.99
HD Solo Receiver$7.00
Cinemax$13.00
Monthly Charges$49.99

I suppose I should really stop leasing my two 211 receivers and get rid of that $7 HD Solo fee...

DISHHD ABSOLUTE$29.99
HD Duo (2TV) DVR Receiver $17.00
DVR Service $6.00
Locals $6.00
Monthly Charges$58.99

I see FX on my guide, I also see NFL redzone. Still have EPIX2, CBS college sports, etc. However, I still cannot add the multisports package online.
This is interesting...I still have a feeling by the end of the day Absolute will be gone, but I will never voluntarily give it up...NEVER

Something odd is definitely going on. I now get Cinemax East and FoxNews, but lost both Epix channels and a few others.

I don't think Dish knows what the hell they are doing at this point.
I took the offer that was given a few days ago , plus the discount, plus the free premiums.

This morning I wake up and turn on the set and I am back to HDabs but I have FX in HD plus a couple of others.
But All my premiums are gone.
Went online and its got me listed as having HDabs for 29.99 plus 6 for locals plus 6 for the receiver.
Oddly enough I also have access to the ehd now on my 722.

From this point on I am going to just sit back and watch this train wreck unfold.
UGH!

Hopper seems excesively loud...all the time
