Me Tv Chicago is going national

Well, I think I have some good news in this department as well. I have mentioned often where we live, between Bullhead City, AZ/Laughlin NV and Kingman AZ. The repeaters we have here for our end of the county are NOT available in the Bullhead/Laughlin area, there is a 2800 foot mountain peak in the way, but on our side of the peak our repeaters were all switched to digital almost a year ago and things are slowly catching up with the rest of the world.

I noticed yesterday morning that on my Titantv listings that KAZT out of Phoenix has added MeTV to their line up as 7.3 digital. Something that wasn't there Friday was suddenly there yesterday, Saturday. I later was channel surfing without rescanning the channels first and found a new channel at 20.5. HUH? But it is MeTV, and there is no channel listed locally at 20.anything. 7.1 is KAZT (ind), 7.2 is KZAT (RTV). And according to Titan 7.3 is KAZT (Me) so I will assume that the county is testing the reception and will later add it to the KAZT lineup.

And here's an oddity for you. I can get this new channel on the living-room TV but not on the bedroom TV. And the bedroom TV has the better antennea. Go figure.

This will work out very well indeed, because I don't have a dual feed C Band on the dish that we get MeTV from and it is not fed into the living-room CNX DUO, so now Phottoette can watch her Me in the living room without having to come to bed to watch it. Score one for "Our" Side.

Me TV looks like they added an affiliate....and for those with a dish elsewhere this may help

KDEV-LP added it. They are in the AnikF3 mux (118.7 3920 H 18447)...its delayed 2 hours but hey whatever works

oh this works good if you dont have AC-3 capabilities to hear the feed on 87W. This one is regular MPEG audio

wiki says MeTV is being added tomorrow to KAZT (and assuming the digital translators)

7.3 480i MeTV (Launches June 20, 2011)

nah its probably just an error on the metv site...

[...]

Now maybe KSTP can figure out a short cut but I think the metv site meant KSTP.

That'd be one heck of a typo. :p

I suspect they're going carry it on KSAX 42-1 (with ABC on 42-2) to get satellite carriage. They will then probably stick it on one of the other signals (either KSTC 45-3 or KSTP 5-2 or 5-3) in Minneapolis.

Heck you put in a zip for Minneapolis, Mankato, Worthington, Bemidji and it says KSAX on all of them.
All those cities are within the DMA, except Mankato which receives ABC from KSTP anyway. If you put in Bishop, California it gives you KDOC since Bishop is in the Los Angeles DMA even though it's 200 miles from Los Angeles and doesn't have any chance of receiving KDOC.

My contact in Phoenix tells me that MeTV was added without PSIP, but that PSIP may now be available. Since the translators copy the main stream 100%, what appeared as 36-5 in Phoenix due to lack of PSIP would be 20-5 in your area. Try again and you may find it on 7-3.

wouldnt be the 1st typo I've seen on the metv site ;)

But KRWF in Redwood Falls is a satellite too (mainly of KSAX) and that has nothing about it. I do hope they put it on 5-2 and scrap those "reruns of old newscasts" ;)

Worthington is in the Sioux Falls DMA and Mankato couldnt get that station anyways. Satellite providers can only import the Big 4 nets if needed. Dish has ABC & NBC from Minneapolis. Directv has Fox too because they have had locals before KEYC-DT2 was launched. Both have the national PBS and the "national" CW (WPIX on Dish, DC CW on Directv)

I still think its suppose to be KSTP

Same here. ;)

You don't need two primary signals for satellite carriage. ;) Plus, in the Champaign market they have WRSP but not simulcaster WCCU listed, even though both should be carrying it when it launches.

I heard they were planning to split the schedule on 5-2 from the schedule they're carrying on the MH channel, so they might very well be thinking of putting it on 5-2.

Worthington is in the Sioux Falls DMA
Forgot about that one.

and Mankato couldnt get that station anyways.
Yes it does. KSTP is translated by K30FN-D. RabbitEars.Info

And the Minneapolis DMA surrounds Mankato as a result.

I still think its suppose to be KSTP
I just sent off an e-mail to my contact at KSTP, so if he gets back to me, we'll have an answer soon enough.

We shall see. :)

I'm fully aware of that

god I hope so. 5-2 is honestly useless. They rarely have anything live on it outside of a radar loop. I know I just love turning on the TV at 10:30 in the morning and seeing the 6:00AM rebroadcast

living in the SW burbs of Minneapolis I do know that. I've got a VHF only antenna specifically for KEYC & KEYC-DT2. As for K30 the issue is that translator (the Goodahl tower) Mankato is on the fringe of it so folks would need a huge antenna to get it. Plus I was referring to folks who have satellite or cable ;)

hoping they say 5-2 or maybe even 45-3. Just hope they put it in 4:3 as it is shown and not a 4:3 pic in a 16:9 screen so you have black bar hell 24/7 on it like we do on 45-2 (thisTV)

i just hope everyone gets this channel. We got it on Monday and I cant stop watching it. Major improvement over RTV.....cant beat watching Bride of Frankenstein on a saturday night! :)

True, although Worthington had a KRWF repeater for years in town, and I sometimes got it direct from Redwood Falls OTA when I lived there.

You gotta love small-town cable, that part of the state gets 3 ABC channels (Sioux Falls, KRWF, and Sioux City for some reason), and Four PBS stations (Iowa, South Dakota, KTCA, and Appleton). Go figure. Meanwhile I'm 5 miles from the KSTP tower and have to fight the indoor antenna for a signal that doesn't die when a car goes by.

You were correct, it IS now on 7.3, in the living-room, but no sign of it (yet) in the bedroom.

We had a problem similar to this a little more than a year ago, there is something defiantly strange about the reception in this area. I can get things on the living-room TV that don't appear on the bedroom TV, and we get strange reflections from some channels in the bedroom that aren't on the living room TV. Example, three ABC (12.1) and ABC Weather (12.2) but various signal quality, ranging from 70 percent to 100 percent, so when ever I scan the OTA in the bedroom, I have to "hide" several channels.

Ah, but after all , how much TV can one (or two) people watch? (grin)

We now have THIS, RTV and MeTV OTA, and that is something good.

Photto

Not too strange. You're just receiving three different transmitters for KPNX (I assume you meant NBC). For you to have gotten K20ID-D from Kingman, I'd assume that means one of the 12-1 signals is K50CY-D Kingman. Others could be K30BQ-D Needles, or K21EG-D Golden Valley, or others. There are lots of these transmitters around trying to fill in the various holes in coverage due to the various mountains.

Actually I was totally wrong, that's what I get for going off the top of my head, it was 13.1 and 13.2 (ABC) that I meant, and BTW, after writing the last post, I ran a scan on the bedroom TV and sure enough, it now also has 7.3, MeTV.

One thing I have noticed though, there seem to be different programs on Sat MeTV and 7.3, interesting.

The tech from Wescom that was here last year doing a site survey for the county told me that there was a repeater AT the local Junior High School, but was mystified about the other signals, so maybe you actually know more than he did. He even called his boss from here last year and his boss was also unknowing as to why we had so many repeat programs from seemingly the same source.

Thank you for your knowledgeable base, it sure was a good call on 7.3.

Photto

And just a note, Needles would be impossible to receive from here, way too many mountains between here and there. And I wasn't aware of anything in Golden Valley broadcasting, though we are suddenly receiving an analog ABC on channel 57. Comes in beautiful in the bedroon and snow something terrible in the living-room, but what the heck, for ABC we have the 13.1.

And occasionally, if the weather is right, 15.1 ABC from Las Vegas, one hour delay.

Duplicates of KTNV-13 from Las Vegas? Now that is odd. KTNV has a single translator in the area, to my knowledge, and that's K44JR-D. (Also, it should have a 13-3 airing The Cool TV.) If you're receiving K20ID-D, I suppose that means several of the Kingman transmitters are available to you.

The analog 57 is from Kingman, K57FY, and it should be translating KNXV ABC15 from Phoenix. It has a permit to go digital on channel 30 at some point.

Let me provide you a few links to my website that may be helpful. For the first two, click the call signs and it will display the subchannels.

This is a list of stations in Kingman: RabbitEars.Info

And this is a list of stations in Laughlin/Bullhead City/Needles: RabbitEars.Info

This is a coverage map for K20ID-D which translates KAZT: RabbitEars.Info

And this is a coverage map for K44JR-D which translates KTNV: RabbitEars.Info

Since I'm not 100% sure where you are, I can't tell exactly what transmitters you may be receiving. Some of them may not be included in either list, those are just the two that I'm reasonably sure you're seeing.

Sorry for dragging this thread off topic. :)

I was happy to find MeTV on 67.3 this morning in Buffalo NY. Now I have sound but no picture; THIS tv is coming in with no problem on 67.1 and 67.2.

verify it against the national feed. Maybe time zone difference? I know the one posted yesterday (KDEV-LP Cheyenne, WY) its off by 2 hours but matches the schedule program by program

Found out Me-TV is coming to Albuquerque's TV market, but did not say when they will go on the air....... The website says it's KTLL-DT and KRTN-LD but I do have a problem with KRTN-LD they have been draging their feet by not putting Retro-TV.:(

I love classic MASH TV shows and same goes for Taxi. Those were the good old days!!:up

Iceberg, my contact at KSTP got back to me:

"
Yes, we are looking at doing MeTv at both KSTP and KSAX."

So, be happy. :)
