The satellite is about the size of a bus 22,500 miles away. The dish needs to be precisely pointed.

You probably aren't pointed close enough to get a signal.

Also make sure your elevation setting is lined up on the actual "elevation indicator" as illustrated.

Not what you estimate is the geometric center of the elevation nut.

Not to hijack the thread but I have a very simple and successful setup. I use an app for my Galaxy S5 phone called SatFinder. It is great for zeroing in on satellite 101. Here is how I point my dish: 2" tripod shaft exactly vertical, adjust tilt, adjust elevation, move azimuth to approximate position using the compass on the app. On the receiver menu go to satellite setup and signal strength. Once the mechanical setup has been done it only takes 10 minutes or less to complete the tuning. My wife relays what she sees on the monitor. To the OP, this is not exactly the system that you have but I hope it helps.
