Modulation?

Had something different happen yesterday though. My "A" system has an S9 on it so I took my spare Micro HD and put it on that system and low and behold when it booted up WVGN came in as soon as video came on??? In fact, all 3 channels on 4156 locked?? That's the good news!! Bad news is after having WVGN on for a couple of minutes I moved OFF that TP to another channel, then back to WVGN and "NADDA, ZIP, ZILCH"??? Another WTF moment!
When you moved off WVGN to another channel was the other channel on the same satellite or did you have to move the dish?

OK guys here is a pic of my Micro HD and tell me what you see listed for the FEC on that channel! Hint, it AIN'T 4/5! And keep in mind that this channel is the one that came on as soon as it finished booting up yesterday. And both my Micro HD receivers have that same FEC for these channels.

Don't believe I have ever seen a FEC of 1/4? :what

Have my 1.2m Ku dish now installed on a motor. And a C1-PLL with conical scaler is on order to arrive next week. Once set up, I'll try my GeosatPro microHD and Openbox S9 to see if I can receive this mux giving you so much trouble.

Just a heads up for ya there cyberham. This morning I turned on one of my S9 systems and low and behold WVGN popped up @ 71%Q?? WTF? Checked and had ALL THREE CHANNELS??

So, next I fired up the other S9 system and had to scan that TP cuz there wasn't anything but Shepards Chappel on that one and that Puerto Rico mux locked, scanned in and came up on that one also?? :shh

So then I went in to the bedroom and checked on the Micro HD system there and that one was on as well, KNOCK ON WOOD!!!

We're suppose to get some severe thunder storms this afternoon so everything will be powered off after lunch but it was GOOD to see that mux working for a change. Kinda makes me wonder if the Emails I sent them complaining about what had happened might have done some good?? :eeek Why yes, I did! I figured it wasn't working anyway so what could they do, turn it off again??? Truth be known, I'm probably not the only person who did that!

Just saying....................

Good to hear you're receiving. I used to watch Blacklist years ago too. Good to hear it's still going.

Yup, they're going to the 8th season this fall and I've got a copy of EVERY episode they've done so far. Spader got me hooked on Boston Legal and I bought that entire DVD set but I'm ahead of that game with The Blacklist.

Now if I could only find a complete set of The Practice from a reputable source that would be great cuz the Wife and I both like that one also!

FYI, I did record an 8pm hour long show on NBC last week on my OTA recorder just to see what size that would be and even that was well over 5GB in size? WOW??

Ennywho, I'm cautiously optimistic that that PR mux may have solved that problem they have been having but I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed.

UPDATE: Good news, bad news! Good news is I still seem to be able to lock this PR mux TP under the following conditions: If I'm on that TP when the receiver boots up, then it will lock those 3 channels and I can switch between them. Bad news is if I move to another channel that's on a different TP, then I loose the lock on the PR mux and the only way to get it back is to select one of the 3 channels then move to another satellite then back to the PR mux and it will lock it again....so far most of the time?

All this is really weird? Ennywho, this lastest testing was done with both my S9 receivers but my Micro HD doesn't have but the one TP on it so there's only 3 channels and I can't switch TPs, but, my best guess is that they would do the same thing the S9 is doing.

The never ending saga....................................

I hear ya. I've been trying to make my Paraclipse work better despite the hail damage but when I get signal levels up I end up with some transponders coming in better while losing others. It's frustrating. Oh well, off to my next project which involves retiring the Paraclipse and installing a new dish on that pole.

It looks like I can't help you Lone Gunman. I tried to receive the Puerto Rico mux on 99W with my 1.2m dish to test with my microHD but I can't receive that mux unfortunately with this size dish. I wss hoping to watch that tp.

And now I have the Edision receiver anyway so the microHD assumes the backup role and won't get much use. I suggest you do the same. You won't look back after getting through the initial learning curve with the Edision.

RE: That PR mux................Looks like it's doing the same thing it was doing when I made my last post here on it last month. Even the Micro HDs is doing the same as the Openbox S9s now so looks like I'll be "good to go" when The Blacklist returns, which they are saying now won't likely be until early 2021.

Edision? I'm sure it's a good piece, BUT, at 75 years old now I'm more than a little apprehensive about spending money in this hobby, especially since most all the stuff I want to record/watch can be gotten from the 35 OTA channels that are available to me now. That and a few months back I purchased an OTA receiver/PVR by Homeworx and it seems to be able to do the job if needed.

Add to that the fact that there aren't any reasonibly priced dish controllers to be had and prices of the other associated hardware are through the roof, if you can even find what you might need!!

Ennywho, thanks for your help!

After some careful tuning, I am now receiving the 3-channel Puerto Rico mux on my mini-BUD tonight. An interesting set of channels.

I followed the procedure above exactly using my microHD. I see no problem here. I can move between the three mux channels or between different tps on 99W and all channels that I can receive lock in correctly. One difference in our situations is that my received signal is only just above threshold at about 5.3 dB as measured on the Edision or a reading of SQ 25% on the microHD.

Yep, over the past few weeks that PR mux "seems" to have fixed itself cuz all my junk is working also?? Sort of good news, bad news though, ie, good news is it's working normally now. Bad news is we still don't know what caused the problem in the first place?

Ennywho, good to see that one back to normal with "The Blacklist" scheduled to start the 8th season on November 13th IIRC. :clapping

UPDATE: Well, here we are again with the same old crapola from this PR mux?? :wtf Just tried to view WSJP and there was nothing there and neither was the NBC channel or This TV?? Was working the other day cuz I recorded two Dateline episodes from it??? So after testing my other two receivers/systems I'm back to square one. Just hope that it does like before and fixes itself before January 22, 2021 when The Blacklist comes back on again.
