We have bought a new house and are going to transfer our service, but will need a couple things

1) add a new receiver

2) a couple new jacks but they have to be in wall pulls( home owners association) I have pulled in a single story but not a two story.

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations as to installers in Las Vegas area that are good to deal with?

The HOA is trying to determine how you run wires within your own house?

That is ridiculous.

As far as good installers in your area, I do not know.
However, I would just call D* as they will do the move for free.
Most techs are capable of doing wall fishes. However, they generally are not free (but cheaper then paying somebody else).
Offer to pay the tech cash though instead of making them run it through their HSP (that way all the money goes to the tech that does the work and not to the HSP who does not deserve it).

If the tech is not capable then call a good A/V company and pay them but at least the install of the dish and everything else will be done for free.

The HOA has said only the main feed wire can be exposed to the outside of the house. are you saying that i should be able to have outside feeds other than that running as well. Every HOA in Vegas is that way.

The HOA can tell you what the outside looks like, not the inside. They want one outside feed from the dish going inside the house, not wires running all around the perimeter feeding different rooms. kjlued misinterpreted what you meant.

I guess I did too. But what happens if you need 2 or 3 lines from the dish? I guess as long as they are right next to each other thats OK?

dude, can you please get a life other then chasing me around the board trying to start fights? It has gotten past being old.

I asked a question about what he said.
There is a question mark after what I said. It looks like this "?".

I didn't misrepresent jack shi..

Now that that we are clarified on that quit fawkin stalking me.

Now that is said, lets get back on topic.

HOA's are usually more concerned with what is on the front of the house or what is visually seen from the front. Yours may be a little more strict. I used to live in Vegas (on Sahara close to Buffalo) and I know that many of the HOA's out there can be really difficult to deal with. Thankfully there is next to no LOS issues with dish placements. Unfortunately, most houses are built on slabs making it really difficult (not impossible) to get wires down to first floors without exposing something on the outside. Also, 2 story wall fishes can be quite costly. Really hard to give ideas without being there on ways to run wires that will please the HOA and save you money, but burrying the wire around the house is one way and could leave very little wire exposed (maybe even only inches). You could even hide those inches with yard art (I know it is hard to do with bushes since desert landscaping is usually only permitted in the front yards). Other ways may be using existing interior runs and running the cable under baseboards.

If I was there, I could probably come up with a few fairly simple ways to do very clean and affordable cable runs but since I am not, I can't.

Like I said though, call D* to do the move.
Have the tech do what he can.
If he is not cable of running an outlet to keep you and the HOA happy, then call a specialist in to do so. Your tech may even have a good recomendation (I know I keep the numbers of guys I know that do good work such as arborists and custom A/V guys).

Good luck

I assume the installers in the Vegas area have dealt with that before so they probably "know the tricks of the trade" too?

Actually you are correct It is what is visible from the front of the house. I have a few Idea's on how to get this accomplished I have even come up with a possible easy way for me to get it done myself inner wall. I am creative in that manner. Every house I have had installed cable/Sat has all been pre wired for the installer to the T. makes for very fast and efficient installs.

I was just wondering what the cost would be per location. I was estimating about $125 a drop.

Prices depend greatly on who you have do it, what is involved and going rates in your area.

Standard line runs through D* are free.
Basic wall fishes in my area are $50 ea (that is a 1 story wall fish).
Most D* techs are not equipped to do a 2 story wall fishes.

If you call an a/v guy or electrician in my area to do a wall fish, expect prices to start at $150 and up for single story and WAY up for 2 story.

Cable burial is up to $1 a foot for D* techs but often I just do it anyways (for free if it is simple) as it is sometimes easier and faster or they could just lay it around the house allowing you to bury it yourself.

If you can post a floor plan with where you want outlets, where existing outlets are, and where your electrical bonding point is, I may be able to give you a few ideas if you need them.
