I've rated 600 movies at Netflix, and their recommendation system works for me.

In fact, it started working well after less than 100 recommndations.

How about you?

P.S. I didn't even get this post edited to my liking (5 minutes) before 3 people voted!

i voted the 500 so so. i am very picky when it comes to movies. that being said, i can't believe i took the time to rate 500 movies and don't take their recommendations.

I voted the truth. Never used it / Don't know yet, but most of all I don't really care. I spend all my time playing with FTA. That would highly interfere with my addiction. Since I'm still in denial, it's not really an addiction, it's more like a hobby. I still don't want or need interference in my hobby.

I've rated well over 500 (932, to be exact). Their recommendations are sometimes on the money, sometimes not. I suppose it's easier for their system to come up with recommendations for people who are simple in their ratings, such as always rate action movies high, and foriegn films low, that sort of thing. Since my ratings are always based on the qualities of the individual films, and I enjoy (and hate) films across a huge spectrum of categories, their recommendations are really scattered and hit-or-miss, for me.
