The
NA software will not decode AC3
audio.I switched back to the European
software that came with the Passion.
If you use a HDMI cable the picture
will show corrctly on your HDTV.
You will have to use the software on
Fortecstar website if you want AC3 audio.

I do not notice the jumpyness
but it is probaly there since pal scans at 50hz and NTSC is 60hz.

Setting the Fortec TV setting to 720
Did the trick!
At 1080 it’s a problem!
All these new thinks to learn in my
Old days. He.He.He.

Now I am back to 1080,
And the picture is fine!
Much better then my fortec Mercury!

So do you guys think we should import a few European version Passions (even though a fully developed NA version is not available yet)?

If we have a group buy of say 20 pcs, I may be able to airship some in. If you do, someone could start a group buy thread.

I got the Mercury and did like it.
With new passion, it’s the only way to go!
The picture is far superior to any
Other receivers I have bin using!
If using the UK software, you can display,
Only with HDMI cable!
I use only the UK software and don't care,
if ever the NA software, will be out!
Thanks for replacing THe C-KU F LNB so quikly!

Thanks for your input. If the UK f/w with HDMI is working fine for you, then it should be fine for most people with HD TV and HDMI. :)

I will start a group buy thread for this

I agree ! I can receive anything that I need If I want to add a DVB-s2 card to my Skywalker-1 PC. Everything except blindscan. I simply want one box that will do it all, until then, no sense buying any partial solutions.

Gotta agree with you there Brent, the problem is the "until then" could be a long time....I'm not that patient:)

I'm not patient , either, just a little disgusted that only partial solutions are available. I don't have any pressing need for dvb-s2 yet, but the day is coming. If I really need it I'll get a techno trend card for the computer. I don't like DVB solutions, other than as a test platform, but I can live with it. It is certainly flexible, if not convenient.

There may never be, a receiver that will do all!
Now I got all I like for the moment!
One day something new, will be on the marked,
And the fun will start all over!
It’s not like investing, in to the stack marked!

Verged the blind scan!
I have more fun, putting the only needed
Transponder in manual!
And just having the convenes exchanging the files with
Others, using a USB stick ore internet!

Blindscan--Coolsat 5000
4:2:2--Quali-TV
DVB-S2--Coolsat 8000

thank god my HDTV has 7 inputs (2 component, 2 a/v, RF & 2 HDMI) :D

Fortec Passion Update ---

I contacted Fortecstar about a North American release date for the stb, and here is
the reply that I received.
"Brent,
We do not have a release date for this product in North America.
There are some issues with the chip manufacturers as to what they are
prepared to do for the feature set.
The result is that it has been put on hold.
Tx!
Don McEwen,
Sales Manager-North America
Fortec Communications Inc. "

Does not look like we'll be seeing this box for awhile, I'd say ( somewhat to my dismay ) .

:(
