Hello everyone,
I Just got a fortec (digital 39'" offset digital dish) and I am thinking to buy a receiver: the Pansat 2500 or 2700 or the new coolsat pro 4000. I read all (almost) your inputs: I find them quite helpful. I live in Pennsylania, 35 miles north of Philadelhia. I am interested in the Telstar 5 and /or the Atlantic bird 3 (Eutelsat). I wonder if one of these receivers has one or both satellites per-programmed. So I don't have to put them the parameters manually. Do I need a DiSEqC Motorized Satellite Dish? . I got The dish as a present and it did not come with a LNBF: which LNBF should I buy for it? I wonder if I can really get the atlantic bird 3 (Ku-band) from where I am.
Thanks so much for your help.
( I need more help to set the system up).

Hello and welcome to the Satellite Guys.US FTA Forum!!

You should invest in the best KU LNBF you can get at this point and (IMO) a motor is really a must to get full advantage of your system. IA-5 will be easy enough to find but Atlantic bird 3 is really out of the question I am afraid, for a start the footprint will not reach where you are, and indeed the whole satellite is nearly out of view from your location.

thanks Pete

I thought I could get Ab 3 from the Panatlantic side of it. Too bad.
Thank you for your quick response.

Hi again ,
What is the best Ku LNBF and the best motor in your opinion?
I appreciate your time.

I been doing alot of reserch on telstar 5 . There are alot of FTA recivers there using for this type of coummity in the usa Middel East Coummity . Iv found the best box to use is a Pansat 2500a . Most FTA Recivers are over priced as in the sat curser ,ide and some outher off bran recivers. Most of the older 2500a are going to be dirt cheap sice it dosent support the 2mb eeprom chip inside. Thats why there selling the 2700 with 2mb chip . There are tons of free to air recivers out there keep a eye out for the pansat 2500a sice there not really going to be much use for it in the future besides FTA. The defult settings for the pansat have the TelStar5 Settings works great!
