I plan to replace my older 625 with a VIP22K which I recently purchased.
I did check the smart card number on the barcode label and it does start with S19 so I apparently do not need to contact Dish for a card before I start to install it.
This is for our vacation home and my plan was to test it out before we leave for the shore. I don't use DISH here, but I do have a spare antenna that I was planning to temporarily set up to test out the receiver.
I did a very dumb thing - I followed the instructions on the screen.
It immediately went into a configuration process and, at step 3, it is trying to get information from the satellite(s). OOPS!
So, is there a way I can interrupt the automated configuration? (I tried restarting the system and it always goes to the same step.) If I do, will I be able to access the menu system and point the antenna?
Otherwise, I'll wait and spend part of my vacation getting the new receiver set up.
