Yesterday the "specialist" from Directv called me regarding the NFL remote issue. He agreed that the ordering process for Hawaii should permit us to order promotional items like the remotes.

At the time he did not know if it was possible for him to order the remotes for me but he said he would if he could.

I received an email about thirty minutes ago and it stated that he had been successful in ordering the remotes for me and that I should receive them in about a week.

Everytime i have had the occassion to talk with a Direct CSR, they have been helpful. It really is a pleasure dealing with them.

Got my Seahawks remote yesterday (Tuesday). Not bad service considering I ordered it on-line Sunday. Programmed it for RF yesterday evening and I'm all set for NFL to start. I do like the backlighting, that's a nice touch I don't have with my other DirecTV remotes. :up

Got my Carolina Panthers remote Monday. It is awesome. Love the black and blue design. The backlight feature is cool too. Now I am waiting on the NCAA remotes to come. Hint, hint.

Got my Cowboys remote a few days after I ordered online. Nice glossy feel and yeah the backlit feature is nice. I say we do a poll on which team sells the most.

They should give you a free NFL remote when signing up for their promotional offer of 4 months free when buying ST.

Are the HD DVR's the only receivers that have RF built in?

I realize these sports remotes come with an RF antenna, but do I still need it? I have an H20 with the TV that I'd like to use this remote with.

If I do need the RF antenna for the H20, does it have to be connected to all components that I want to control with the remote or just the H20?

The only components that ANY RF directv remote will control via RF are current directv receivers. Which include the following models of receivers, H10, H20, H21, H23, HR20, HR21, HR23, R15, R16, and R22. All other types of components, tv's dvd's, av receiver's are strictly controlled via IR only.

Yes your H20 needs an antenna.

Well, sadly this might be a deal breaker to me. I have my current IR D* remote programed to control the volume on my AV Receiver. If I can't program the RF remote to do this, the deals dead for me.

Upon further thought, I think with this remote being RF instead of IR, it's actually a shortcoming. I'd imagine a lot of people have external speakers with their setups. With it being RF, there's no way to control IR receivers without another remote. Why didn't they make this remote IR?

Surely this remote has IR capability to control your other connected equipment? Just like their standard Rf remote, you just have to point using line of sight to control other stuff.

The remote is IR and RF capable. By default it is IR. And yes, indeed, all other equipment except for the D* Receiver is controlled via IR. So, your setup will work the same as it does today out of the box (and after programming the remote). Then, you have the choice to turn on RF for the D* reciever if you so choose.

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.

I got my Patriots remote control!

I bought the control, that means if I decide in the distant future to return DTV...which probably will never happen....I get to keep my remote right?

I too ordered a Patriots remote - the day before Brady wend down :(

Anyway, it is here and works great, the code database is alot better than my old RC24 remote, it is good to see the add more devices every year or so when they revamp the remotes. My old one is only two years old.

I like the backlight function and bigger buttons, this is my first remote with those options from D*.

$30 for the remote, includes Next day shipping (not sure why, but thanks D*)
