IGN.com gave it a 8.7, which is a good score. I'll let you know my impressions after I pick up my copy tomorrow.

I'm waiting for 2K7 to come out and then rent both. Still undecided after tryng the demos and reading the reviews, but leaning towards NHL 07.

I bought NHL 07 for xbox 360 a couple of days ago. Maybe it's just me, but the game play just doesn't feel as smooth as the 2K series. Graphics and sound are great. New controls on 07 take a lot of practice. I've played the 2K series on xbox the past couple of years. Maybe it's just me and I'm used to the 2K style. I figured I'd give EA a shot this year, but I'm going back to 2K. With that said, I'm selling NHL 07 for the Xbox 360. $50 and free shipping. Will consider reasonable offers. PM if interested.
