801 is 6 generations old. The most current models are 07's. I f you do not need HDMI it should be a rockin AV receiver. AQ on my 601 is still good even with a blown channel.

Can you post pics of the front and the back of the receiver? Does it have hdmi?
No HDMI but will handle 7.1 analog input so if you have a device that outputs 7.1 analog PCM it can do TrueHD and etc at full bitrate. It also has 7.1 analog pre out. absolutely nothing wrong with it and it is THX. I just wanted to reduce my cabling and go HDMI. The reciever I bought for 400 bucks is half the price of the 801 new. It also has a great amplifier section that will handle 6 ohms with ease at 130W. I think it can even drive speakers at 4 ohm according to the manual.
