Playboy TV "dirty" little pricing secret

I have AEP- Dish180+HBO,cinemax,showtime etc...plus the HD package (the old one-mpeg2). After reading these threads I called dish abot adding Playboy but they would not budge from $14.99/month, so I told them I did not want it.
The CSR (a moron) asked me to prove to her that some folks are getting it for $7 by asking me for the account numbers of these folks.
I told her I read it in SatelliteGuys and to go there and read it herself.

Should I call again and try talking to someone else, hopefuly with brains?

I cut my programming back this past year. I dont watch many movies. With these DVR fees per DVR I figure I would use that to save money on having to purchase a lot of movie packages. I can just DVR the movies and watch them later on. Will not be as much of a use for them since I will have a lot of shows to choose from to watch.

It looks like the bill does not differentiate the movie pack, but I am sure they do on their end.

Just for reference, here's what's on my bill that came today...

"America's Everything Pak Pak w/ Playboy and Locals- 96.99"

(The "Pak Pak" is not a typo- that's what it says.)

Theoretically, this should all be automatic. It shouldn't matter if the CSR knows what they're doing.

Seems like someone posted something recently about their bill suddenly dropping $8...maybe they already subscribed to Playboy?

That was me. It dropped $7 when they dropped the full price I was paying to the pak price. Thanks to this and my dropping of TV5 and Radio France, My bill is lower than it was before I added the new HD channels...

She said the bill would be $117 and change. Breakdown like this:
HD Plat $100, Locals $5, 2nd recv $6, Playboy $7

$118...good thing I enjoy television.

Same thing with me except I have 3 recievers (622/622/921) and my bill was $124ish.

Oh BTW, THANKS to the original post letting us now about the "secret pricing". My wife said $7 extra for Playboy was a no brainer

I haven't subscribed to Playboy since cable first was strung in our area. That may go as far back as 1980. Has it gotten any better? There were too many repeats and there was not much of anything different that you can get on Showtime at about 3:00 AM. I know you don't get any X but it was worthless to me then.

They do have the Director's Cut now. You won't see that on Showtime or Cinemax, but it is not a hard as Exxtasy or Spice Platinum.

50% of the programming is roughly equal to TEN in explicitness, but the movies tend to go towards Vivid Video and Michael Nen rather than Gonzo type stuff.

25% is the same stuff it was 10 years ago, and the other 25% is new shows that are much more risque than they used to have (Private Calls, basically phone sex while 4 porn stars writhe onscreen, etc.).

I just ordered it. I am impressed. This is better than the "l980 Version" of Playboy that I remembered.

Its well worth the $7.00 per month. I get the Platinum Package. Thanks for your input. I might spring for the yearly TENXtsy package next. Any feed back on that one?

Playboy just doesn't get any subscriptions when it comes to adult programming. As a dealer we sell very little adult programming, but everytime we do its usually extasy!

"TXTSY" (as it is listed on the Guide) is a rip off.

I looked at the programs and movies that were listed on that channel today. I crossed checked them with a DVD purchase site that offers detailed descriptions and evaluations of XXX rated DVD's. The site is www.dvdtalk.com. I particularly took interest in "Dementia 2". I payed for a single viewing of it. I was considering purchasing the channel for a year or $307.89. Its listed in the adult programing section of D as "TENXtsy".

This version of the DVD that was missing all of the "A" and ATM scenes.

Forget this nonsense. I will stick to renting DVD's.

Wow ... I didn't know about the $7 thing until I saw this thread and read all the posts. So I signed up online. I had AEP until this last Wednesday when I finally changed over to HD and got HD Platinum plus locals plus an international.

I have always wanted to see some of the original Playboy programming like the Playmate of the Month videos ( are the newest Playmates featured every month ? ) plus I like seeing some of the old school PB programming from the 80s. $7 is a steal. Hopefully it will apply to me.
