I did a 'NO-NO', I think. I made some changes in Maz and downloaded and the receiver became unstable. I reloaded the firmware, 9.4502, and still was unstable so I did reformat the application area. Of course, now I need all my setting replaced. I have the files, but I cannot get the wireless to connect. I have tried to follow the instructions, but no connection results. The unit will find my wireless and set the name in the for selection. Then when I do the 'connect' it goes to the screen for setup, and clicking on 'setup' results in 'No connection, try again'.
Any assistance will be appreciated.

Make sure that the key and type of encryption used by your wireless network are set correctly in the AzBox. Another potential cause for this issue would be that your wireless access point name is too long but this should not be the case if it was working before using the same name.
 
I am using no encryption, and my wireless network name is 7 uppercase characters, which was working before. I am going to go through the procedure again later today.

Some devices won't connect if wifi access point is not broadcasting its SSID. Be sure filtering is not being done by MAC address. If so, MAC address of each device to connect must be configured in access point.
 
SSID must be broadcast, since AZBox finds it and fills it in on the screen. I am not sure how to check filtering by MAC address. My router shows that it has a MAC address for the AZBox. I will check the AZBox to see if it coincides.

Wireless router is set to broadcast the SSID and is set for 'Disabled' on wireless MAC filter. Should I be using the same IPs for Default Gateway and DNS1 in the AZBox as in the wireless router, when setting Static address?
 
I haven't got my azbox on wifi yet. the garage is out of range of the cisco router. I have to run one more cable to the garage with rj45 signal. can't help migold with that problem. my azbox don't even pick up the name of my net. charlie
 
I connected the AZBox to my router using RJ45 cable to get the wired connection on network. I tried both static and DHCP. I was NOT able to get a network connection by either method after various trials over 3 hours. I know the cable is good, as I have used it to connect to other computers recently. I have run out of ideas for troubleshooting this problem. Does anyone know of any software that might assist in troubleshooting this problem?

Perhaps post screen shots or list all the values that change as you select the wired/wireless and dhcp/static radio buttons in setup. This may make it easier for others to see the source of the problem.

For general network troubleshooting with devices that have wired and wireless ports, here are a few thoughts.

The easiest way to check whether the device is even getting on to the network is to look at your router logs. Hopefully the receiver has label(s) that identify the MAC address of the wired and wireless ports. Check your DHCP logs to see if the corresponding MAC address from the receiver is listed with an address in your router.

Depending on your computer platform of choice, there are Lan scanning utilities that will show you all the devices on your local subnet. On the Mac I use the originally named LanScan utility. Do a google search for "free lan surveying software" or "free network scanning software" and see what you can find.

Turn the receiver off. Run a LAN scan and see what comes up. Keep your router DHCP server admin page or app up and running so you can refresh it right after turning on your receiver.

Plug the AZBox into your network on the wired port, turn it on then see if it shows up in your router logs, or in the Lan scan utility. If yes, hopefully it gives you an IP address you can ping. If you have an IP address in your DHCP log, but can't ping it, then you have some other network issue. If you don't have an IP address in your router log, go into network setup on your box, reset all network settings to default, then select DHCP and reboot. See what happens after that.

The last address used by the AZBox was 192.168.0.102. The ...103 address is used by a wireless printer. The ....125 address is not known to me, I have no idea what it is. The WET610N connects to a 4 port ethernet switch. The MAC address shown in the AZBox matches none of the above.
When I had the AZBox wired to the router, no address showed for it in the router DHCP log, no matter how I tried.

I tried the following when in the wired setup:
IP Address: 192.168.0.102
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS1 192.168.1.1

The default gateway and DNS1 settings match those on my router.
I have also tried default gateway and DNS1 setting of 192.168.0.1, which is the IP for my router.
I have also tried default gateway and DNS1 setting of 192.168.1.45, which is the IP for my DSL modem.

Please try to powercycle your router as sometimes, the DHCP server on a router can suddenly stop assigning new IP addresses to devices.
 
The last address is a Sony device, maybe a Blu-ray player.

Does the information you see in Cisco Network Magic agree with what you see in your router log? Any more or less devices?

Any chance that when things were working OK before you may have turned on MAC address filtering on your router?

I can't tell from a quick look at the AZBox manual if it has a complete factory refresh setting. If I was having the problem you are describing I would do a factory reset for the hardware device, in this case your receiver, then disconnect everything else from the network temporarily. Connect the device by cable to the router or switch, then restart it with DHCP enabled.

If starting from a factory default the device won't get a DHCP address then you're looking for a physical problem. Try swapping cables with another hardwired device. Until you can get a DHCP address on the receiver with a cable I wouldn't spend any time looking at anything else.
 
pwrsurge - I have tried cycling the router power, with no effect. NOW, I have another problem. I tried doing the shutdown on the AZBox, and then turned the power off, waited several minutes and powered back up. It goes into SETTINGS, and all my configurations are lost and I have to start over. This has happened to me before, since I lost network. I am getting VERY good at putting my settings back in for my most used stations. What is the cure for this?

ftageekyyc - HEY! I do have a Sony Blu-Ray player, connected to a 4 port switch, which is connected to the WET610N wireless bridge. So that makes sense!! The information in the router log agrees with the Cisco Network Magic, which shows the WET610N, but not what connects through the bridge. I have checked for MAC address filtering and it is disabled. The AZBox has a 'data reset' function, but I think I will see what pwrsurge recommends before I press that button. Thanks!

hi migold. maybe a silly question but did you originally try to reload the FW via wireless? It may have missed a file. I ALWAYS reload via USB or a wired ethernet.
