it says that the tune is playing at 64Kbps...

does that mean i should only record it at 64kbps?

if so, that's sorta low quality.... ?

if i'm only receiving it at 64kbps, then recording it at a higher rate is just going to create larger files with no real benefit, right?

You have it correct.

Both XM and SIRIUS stream at kind of low quality rates. Whether the quality is acceptable is a personal call. For me, it mostly depends on what I am recording. If I am capturing talk or news, then I don't use anything higher than 64kbps. If I am getting music files, I bump it up to 128kbps.

You are also correct that it will not help to record at a higher rate than the original signal. Quality in equals the best quality out that you can get.
