Question about vacation and the external HDD

If I put the service on vacation can I still view my recording on the DVR and on the HDD?

I don't understand all this stuff but can my recordings be transfered to a cloud or something so I can watch them on my Kindle while the receiver is on vacation and I travel?

You should see your internal recordings, not your external.

The external HDD requires an "active" account before the DVR will let you access it. An account on "pause" isn't considered "active". Recordings on the DVR's internal HDD remain accessible however.

It's randomly arbitrary and there's really no logic or sense to it and Dish flat-out lied to me when I asked them about it a couple years ago before going on pause, otherwise I would've moved a bunch of stuff to the internal HDD first.

Yep, pretty crappy about the EHDD since I paid to have it enabled too.
