I have a Tivo SD-DVR40. I have been doing some reading and found out I can't use Tivo's "Tivo To Go." Is there any other way to use my existing recorder to transfer recordings to my PC?
Or do I need to get another DVR. Does Directv offer a DVR that I can use to transfer my recordings to My PC?

Those that are going the MPEG-4 route is there not going to be an MPEG-4 Tivo? Will you have to get a standalone Tivo in order to retrieve the content from the hard drive?

Stargazer:

No MPEG-4 TiVo. DirecTV will not be releasing new TiVo-based systems, period.

No TiVo will ever be able to receive DirecTV MPEG-4 content without DirecTV's blessing.

So the standalone DVR's will not be able to work off of the MPEG-4 content or does it not matter as long as the DVR has the inputs that come off of the back of the satellite receiver?
