Sky Angel is now available in Canada through the internet:

TORONTO, Dec. 20 /CNW/ - ShifTV Inc. ("ShifTV" or the "Company"), a
leading broadcaster of ethnic and niche programming through the Internet, is
pleased to announce that it has entered into an exclusive IPTV agreement with
Sky Angel, the leading US-based direct-to-home satellite broadcaster of
Christian and family-oriented programming, which is currently not available in
Canada.

Canadians can now subscribe to ShifTV's service to view Sky Angel
programming on their televisions or on their computers at home or abroad. The
agreement includes programming for a minimum of 30 Sky Angel channels
(16 video and 14 audio).

"We are pleased in becoming Sky Angel's exclusive IPTV partner as it
provides thousands of people the opportunity to view Christian programming
that is currently not offered through other broadcasters. Sky Angel is a
perfect partner in our ongoing strategy to provide programming to niche
audiences on a reliable platform", says Morey Chaplick, CEO of ShifTV.
"Subscribers with high-speed Internet access can simply plug their television
into a set-top box, and enjoy the programs that they are truly interested in
viewing."

ShifTV is also pleased to announce the close of a private placement with
PowerOne Capital Markets Limited acting as the agent. ShifTV issued
6.6 million units at a price of CAD $0.50 per unit raising proceeds of CAD
$3.3 Million. Each unit consists of one common share and one-half of one
common share purchase warrant. Each whole warrant entitles the holder thereof
to acquire one additional common share of ShifTV at a price of $1.00.

Proceeds from the private placement will be used to fund the expansion of
ShifTV's IPTV platform, hire key management, marketing, working capital and
general corporate activities.

Excellent to see this finally announced. :)

I have known about this for awhile now and have not said a word about it. :D

I keep on saying that IPTV is the future of Television, this backs that statement up. :)

So does ShifTV have a website? Seems odd that an IPTV provider wouldn't, yet I can't seem to find it.

Any word on if/when this would come to the US? While I don't mind the current partnership with Dish, I can see Internet delivery as the future as Scott notes. :)

If you notice it looks like the IPTV offerings in Canada are not exactly the same as in the US satellite offerings and honestly I dont know if I would pay for that package, a lot of those channels already have online viewing options such as the TBN Channels and Spirit and TVU available free from their respective websites.

Thats canadian not american money

It's still a lot of money, over $21 in today's conversion. I know it has gone up, but SkyAngel started at $9.99 per month in the US. This is more than twice that.
